What game are you migrating from?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 5:22 pm

Since we're all pretty much new to these forums (cause Brink isn't out yet :P) I figured it would be cool to see what games people are coming from and to find out more about each other. I've never bothered getting this involved in a games' community before until way after I got the game but there's something about Brink that's special so here I am.

I'll start:

So I'm coming from a game called MAG, if you're on PS3 you might have heard of it. It's an online team-based FPS and it's not as popular as it should be. Basically it's dying a slow death as less and less people play it so I was unbelievably happy to discover Brink a month or so ago. After playing MAG and getting involved in it's community, most other online shooters bore me. Killzone 3's fun online but just doesn't have the depth I need to keep me hooked. Brink on the other hand appears to have several layers of tactical depth and plenty of customisation. More importantly it rewards you like no other FPS game for teamplay and completing objectives. Furthermore, having been a part of MAG I know that it's when the game actually gets into player's hands that the real tactical depth is revealed - the developers never manage to explain all the possibilities so I can't wait to see what everyone can do in this game!

EDIT: I guess I should clarify, when I say what game are you coming from I mean what game(s) are you going to give up/play less in order to play a load of Brink? Or if like me you mostly tend to play one game online at a time then what game are you coming from and what is it that Brink offers that your previous game doesn't?

i play a lot of games but i guess the one im leaving is killzone . killzone 2 is my favourite fps but they messed up killzone 3 too much by listening to the wrong people and rushing the game.

Bad Company 2's a game I wish I had spent more time with but I tend to devote all my online time to one FPS. Although I'm very excited for Battlefield 3 as well so I may have to share my time between Brink and B3 when it comes out.

Fair enough, sorry I meant no offence. I thought the Brink forums would be fairly new since it isn't out yet - my mistake.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Black Ops, and not MAG. I never played MAG for the past several months and don't tend to play it again at all. Black Ops, I just got to stop playing this damn game someday. Bad Company 2, I just miss blowing [censor] through the roof.

I migrated from MAG also, played since release for 900 hours across 3 accounts so I've seen the lag grow and grow. It's gotten to the point where it's just unbearable my end, especially since Zipper shut down international servers.

So really I'm not migrating from any game since I jumped ship from MAG already, but I'm playing a little CoD4 and Borderlands on the side of visiting these forums and that thing called real life, just to stop me going rusty. I'm also interested in buying Homefront, possibly to hold my interest until Brink.

To much BC2 and waiting for BF3 is just understatement for me because BF2 is what originally drew my interest into fps (I recall RtCW but did't quit draw me in as much as BF2 so I see the irony here with Brink). Was hoping MoH would pull some my attention away but that was a major failure and I play it very sparingly. Just getting into Homefront game has some potential. I think it's getting more bad comments then it deserves it's really just OK at this point. That's why I'm hoping again Brink can be the game to pull off the magic. I believe we are all looking for the holy grail in games and it seems these developers are saying everything I would like to hear and hoping they are just not empty words. The reason I give them the benefit of doubt is because of ET that game has such a cult following so I want to see if they can do it again.

Im a long time call of duty player (since the first) and when Brink hits, it is a very large chance ill never look at that series again. This game promises to give me something I've endlessly complained about in shooters and S.M.A.R.T. is the answer I've awaited since I first played FPS's on in my PC days. Im an XBox guy now but the facts are there. Im dropping Halo, Cod, and even passed up two titles and a shot at a new smartphone just to ensure nothing stands between me and release night / day. Thanks to what Brink offers, this game means so much to me its as if I had a hand in its creation.

Team Fortress 2 (PC)
Bad Company 2 (360)

I've played these two for a lenghtly time and I've been trying to find a new game to get into. I believe Brink will be the cure for this.

Shadowrun and Bad Company 2.

Shadowrun is hands down the greatest FPS this generation, damn me you will but that game is pure balance, genius and joy. If you have not played it you must, there is a quality community still playing as well.

Last shooters I played were W:ET and some CoD4. I consider myself an ET player, because I played soo much more W:ET than CoD
I'm currently playing League of Legends.
