What ES Games have you played?

Wrong, Kefka, that % is based upon total votes, and some people, like me, chose all.

Huh? Only 25% of people that voted, voted that Skyrim will be better than Arena, am I wrong? Please explain.

I think it's the poll software that doesn't understand the question.
There's 296 votes currently, 184 of which think it'll be better than Arena. That's 62%. Maybe its calculation is weird for multiple-choice allowed polls.

I have to disagree there.
Morrowind felt big because it was carefully planned to have diverse environments, landscapes and architecture. Oblivion felt much more generic no matter where you went.

I disagree with you disagreeing. Morrowind only felt big because you moved at a snails pace even when running and the base draw distance was short so the fog made the place seem bigger than it actually was. The diversity of it's environments we unbelievable how many there were on a tiny island. I don't see why people think that Oblivion felt generic, just because it isn't some far off alien world doesn't mean it's generic. It's architecture is built off of a few of the races architecture, instead of how there were so many different types of architecture between the same race on a tiny island. Some diversity is nice but every city being completely different architecture really doesn't make sense. Oblivion and Morrowind were both great architecture but it just boils down to people that if Oblivion's architecture isn't completely outlandish, it must be generic....

So 38% don't think it will be better, thats still alot! But again it could be for the reasons I cited above.

@Sleign Again it was the fact you could not walk in a straight line that made MW seem larger, OB you could go in a straight line every were. See above post of mine for more.

Actually you are wrong. The percentages are of ALL of the votes among all choices. It more along the lines of 85% or so people believe that it will be better than arena.

I see now, 305 member cast votes and ONLY 192 thought Skyrim will be better, so 33% or more don't!? Or the other reasons I cited.

The poll calculates in a poor way, it should be per question.

1. alot of people on this site started the tes series with arena, and it was because arena had more than the devs needed to(they spent more time and added more than they would do now for no other reason to maximize profit) it was the biggest game of that time and one of the best (thats really based on perspective)

2. thats not true at all (about MW size) there were lots of mountains and obsticals. but because of the levitation spell you could explore the map in a straight line, trust me and any one else who knows, morrowind was in FACT larger than OB. the reason that they could do this was two: there was alot more empty space between dungeons (opposed to OB's dungeons being stones throw from the next) and the ratio of space that was dedicated to graphics and engine were not as high (which it isn't bad to improve graphics, but just not at the expense of content.)

Those are probably from people that didn't play Arena. 100% should have voted that Skyrim will be better than Arena. :)

Yep. Arena was a really fun game. It was nice and difficult which is why I liked it alot but since it was the first incarnation of the series, the games have really stepped up from the first crack at it. Daggerfall followed and was worlds better then Morrowind came, it had an amazing main quest but is lost it's quality since Daggerfall and then TES recovered it's quality with Oblivion a bit even though it had a few flaws and Skyrim seems to be putting the best of the past games in and fixing the issues the other games had. Skyrim seems to have the difficulty of Arena, the customization of Daggerfall, possibly the MQ line of Morrowind and the deep sidequests and dynamic world of Oblivion.

@Kefka You could walk in a straight line in Morrowind also. I almost never followed the roads, it was just faster to walk over the mountains which was a bit ridiculous imo lol. Not to mention levitation...god I hate levitation.

why? I thought it was cool and I still think if they brought it back it could be used to make more interesting maps. reaching dungeons on mountain tops that you cant walk up, or to reach other wise inaccessible spaces in dugeons which may have a little better loot.

Oh, yeah. There are a number of texture mods that can improve the looks of the game. Go to the Morrowind Mod section and look for Pluto's Mod Recommendations for New Players. It's on the first page now.

I've played and finished all of them. I think it has the potential to be better than Oblivion, but since we dont' know all the details yet, it's hard to say for sure. For me, DF was the best title so far. The music, story/MQ, the depth of your character etc. The world was a bit more gritty and immersive than the other titles. We'll see about Skyrim...I hope it's good.

Yeah, Better Heads and Better Bodies will give you some more up-to-date looks. They'll still walk as though there is a stick up their butt, but they'll look a helluva lot better.

I thought that Oblivio was larger geographically?, but that's not what couts, the only things you could come across in Oblivio were crumbling forts, caves, farms and aylleid ruins, Morrowid had Daedric and Dwemer ruins and large Towns that were all drastictly different in look, so to me MW seemed larger than OB

For many reasons. Levitation is abusable easily in it's current incarnation, flying around everywhere doesn't fit into the lore and it's a bit ridiculous making it where one type of combat has something that no other type of combat can do. Basically, with returning the inaccessible areas of the dungeons, you either have to be a mage or you have to change your warrior or assassin to where they can use levitation just so you can get special loot to to explore every inch of the world. That's just bad game design.

Getting a little off-topic but I recommend:

Morrowind Graphics Extender (if you've got a pretty good PC)
Morrowind Visual Pack
Texture Fix and Texture Fix for Bloodmoon (if you have that or GotY)
Green Marble Mournhold (for Tribunal)
Better Heads
Better Bodies
Darknut's Textures for Armour, Weapons and Creatures

That will make your Morrowind look heaps better.

Don't get the point of these threads, honestly. They're all the same and will inevitably lead to Oblivion bashing and Morrowind worshiping. That seems to be the obvious trend on these forums.

I think Skyrim will be the best TES game, for the record.

There isn't really any MW worshipping or Oblivio bashing, the main trend is to criticise FT ad the quest compass

Levitation does fit into the lore, how would the Telvannis reach the top of their their tree-towers. And besides, you could buy Rising Force Potions which weren't that expensive, and there was a shrine in Vivec which allowed you to levitate 100pts for 24 minutes.

What I mean is "how will they compare with Skyrim." Sorry, that wasn't made clear.
