What games will keep you going?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 1:50 am

Oh boy. March is a big gaming month so I'll have;

Dawn of War II: Retribution (loving the beta; Imperial Guard FTW!) Dragon Age II. And finally, Shogun 2  That will keep me going for a few months. Of course, that is only March and I'll still have 8 months to go. :(

At the moment though, a heavily modded New Vegas. Who needs DLC... <_<

Let's see...I just bought Divnity II: Dragon Knight Saga. I also have to get back on Fable 3 and play the newer DLCs I bought...aaaand then there's my reserve for Dragon Age 2 next month...Yeah, that might be me covered. :3 Oh, and I'm tinkering with Oblivion at the moment.

Definitely: Witcher 2, Deus Ex: HR, Rage, DNF, Portal 2, Shift 2

Maybe: Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age 2, Bulletstorm, TDU 2

Also, I was really looking forward to True Crime: Hong Kong, but it was cancelled few days ago.

After playing Witcher and Dragon Age, I have no interest in buying Witcher 2 or Dragon Age 2.

Right there with you on that one, same goes for Two Worlds, can't play any 3rd person only games...not since...Arx Fatalis ruined me forever. I foolishly keep trying but only with first iteration games, not their sequels.

Right now my game selection is limited because my main gaming computer had a motherboard failure two days after I got laid off for the winter. So at the moment all I have is an older Pentium 4 with the older and much slower AGP display card. So most of my time lately has been spent playing Titan Quest the Immortal Throne with the xmax mod running so that you get WAY more monster spawns and much faster leveling because of all the extra experience you get killing 10x the mobs. I also have both Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 installed and I have characters going in both of those. Other then that I can also play Morrowind and NeverWinter Nights.

Titan Quest rules as far as I am concerned it beats Diablo and Diablo 2 and I guess we will know soon if it still holds top spot for the best hack and slash game when we see Diablo 3....

Right now I'm playing FIFA 11 and Battlefield Bad Company 2, but admittedly sooner or later those two are going to get really repetitive, especially since I have no friends to play them with as they're all playing Black Ops or Reach, both of which I have but am not really into.

I'm hoping Dragon Age 2 can last me awhile and hopefully I can play the Crysis 2 multiplayer without lagging to death. It's hard to play multiplayer games here in Asia without massive lag. :brokencomputer: All of this is on the Xbox 360.

Hmmmmm...

The entire DOOM series, Daggerfall, Shivering Isles, Metroid Prime, Portal 2, Ocarina of Time+Skyward Sword+Wind Waker, Pokémon White, Fallout 3, *possibly* Minecraft, and a little bit of Morrowind :)

Although I might find some other gems in the back of my collection/CEX :P

http://backloggery.com/games.php?user=tyraarane. In fact, that list might keep me busy until TES 6 comes out. :P

Other than that mega-backlog, there's Lord of the Rings Online. And Portal 2 (assuming Valve Time doesn't kick in again), Crysis 2, and FEAR 3 are all coming out between now and Skyrim, which should keep me preoccupied on the "new releases I'll actually buy on release day" side of things.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Downfall of Pompeii, 1960: The Making of the President and Container are big ones right now.

Or did you mean video games only?

That's probably going to keep you busy until forever. IMO, Neverwinter Nights is good. Do you possess all those games?

After playing Witcher and Dragon Age, I have no interest in buying Witcher 2 or Dragon Age 2.

So it's Oblivion for me.

I tried Witcher 1, and I know what you mean. It's a RPG only if you want to RP "Geralt" as himself, and there aren't a lot of meaningful "skills" (6, or is that 9 "real" skills?), despite the absurd claim of over 100 total. Ultimately, you need to learn each of three attack types with your iron sword (about 5 levels maximum in each, or thereabout), learn them seperately with your silver sword, and then learn your three magic categories; everything else is just "perks". There are choices and consequences which in many cases amount to the same thing; more like the "illusion of choice". There are bows, but you can't shoot them. There are axes, but you only have "default" skill with them and can't increase it. Your armor is one piece, and it's "given" to you at the appropriate point in the game; anything else you find is worse. Each "area" is open-world, aside from the little white picket fences you can't jump over, but the overall game felt very linear and restrictive.

Meanwhile, I'll keep playing MW. I don't think I could stand to put Oblivion back in the drive again, even to try out the supposedly "much better" SI expansion. The TR project is due for another release in the not-too-distant future, which will make 3 sections of the Morrowind mainland to romp in.

I'm also playing a bit of X3:TC (not a learning curve, a learning "wall", and an interface that's painful to use, but good underlying gameplay), Hearts of Iron 3 (modded, because the game is STILL absurdly buggy after nearly 2 years, yet promises to eventually become the most comprehensive and detailed simulation of WWII ever created), and even some venerable old Close Combat 2 and 3. I may also get back to a half-finished game of original FO (far more demanding and interesting than FO3, but the clunky old interface and 3PP view is enough to drive me up a wall after a while - at least FO3 did a FEW things better). I may even break out Jagged Alliance 2 again, and take over Arulco.

Right now I'm playing a lot of league of legends. I also have some games that I just can't really get into: Fallout NV, bioshock 2 and dragon age awakening. A month ago I was playing Oblivion pretty heavily, even before the mention of Skyrim. I wanted to finally beat the shivering isles.

Oh, and I'm watching the new series of Dr. Who :P
