What games will keep you going?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 4:54 am

NWN, granted I first played through it as a druid, and I decided to go for a fighter on my 2nd play-through, bad choice...

Nothing wrong with fighters, but when you go from playing a class that can do just about anything, melee, cast divine spells, cast arcane spells, shape-shift, have 2 companions, use special abilities in forms including psionic powers, shoot with a bow and just you name it...

well let′s just say only being able to melee gets old pretty quickly, perhaps I am missing something about how to play a fighter properly, any advice ?

That's probably going to keep you busy until forever. IMO, Neverwinter Nights is good. Do you possess all those games?

 Yeah, more than likely. And yes, I own all of those games...between Steam's sales and GoG's digital distribution is going to be the death of me. I pick up games I want when they're on sale for a decent discount, but not necessarily when I have the time (or inclination) to play them. So the backlog tends to get staggeringly high, and then I slowly whittle it down in between Steam's sales.

Or at least that's what I used to do. Then they started having mega-sales at Thanksgiving and in the summer, too. :ahhh:

Dragon Age 2 and Crysis 2
...also Deus Ex 3 and Mass Effect 3, but not sure when they are coming out. Wasn't Deus Ex delayed?

I'm going to get laughed at for this, but American McGee's Alice is my favorite game. It was the first computer game I played so I guess it's sort of a sentimental favorite. It's not an RPG (which I why I'm slightly embarrassed to mention it) but it has atmosphere to spare. I still think it has the creepies music/sound design combo in any game I've ever played. And yes, it has the Jabberwock!

That was an awesome game. I played the demo to death before it released.

Of course, I liked Clive Barker's Undying.

I just got Two Worlds 2, about ten hours in now. It's a sandbox style RPG similar to the Elder Scrolls series. I would reccomend it to any Elder Scrolls fan.

I wish I had those games, then I won't ever get bored until Skyrim is out. Actually, I should be wishing for a better computer (or an actual computer, not a notebook) so that I can play those games, since I do have some of them but can't play them. Gothic 2 was one of the games that got me into RPGs in the first place.

I don't think Dragon Age 2 is going to be enough to keep me occupied until Skyrim...but maybe school will. Even after Skyrim.

From what I have now: I still need to finish Fallout: New Vegas and Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, among others I can't remember off the top of my head. (college classes have really taken a toll on my ability to finish games)

In the future between now and 11/11/11: Dragon Age 2, possibly Bulletstorm (played the demo, it's very fun if you like "adrenaline rush" type shooters), Portal 2, and Mass Effect 3 if it comes out before Skyrim does.

There are too many good games nowadays to even play them all for me.

I play an MMORPG, so that takes a good chunk of time. On the non-online front Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Sly Collection, Goldeneye Wii, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skies of Arcadia, Wild ARMs 3, the last post game things in Super Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid Prime 3, Okami, Kirby's Epic Yarn... and I'm probably forgetting others too.

I'm not going to finish my backlog before Skyrim comes out. I'll probably hold off on other game purchases other than Tales of Graces F and Skyrim because my backlog is so large, even though Zelda: Skyward Sword, inFamous 2, ICO/Shadow of the Colossus Collection, and especially Portal 2 are all other games I'm interested other than Graces and Skyrim. Bleh, I even forgot Mass Effect 3 (though that likely launches after Skyrim).

Well I just finished DA:O today and I may do a second play through, I still have a few characters to go through with FO:NV. Portal 2 is a definite pick up... maybe DA2 but I haven't decided... other than that ill play madden, nba2k11, both mass effects (and the third, but that's prolly after skyrim) morrowind, oblivion, halo reach, and forza3 a bit prolly.

Shogun II: Total War (comes out March 15, woo!) - mostly this. Strategy games keep me occupied for almost as long as Elder Scrolls games do, and the Total War series is awesome (once bugs are fixed...)
New Vegas
Morrowind
Possibly Portal 2

I did the same thing, since it was announced that your DA:O playthrough would affect DA2 (if you want it to). I was excited to do it again...ten minutes in "OH GOD, WHY DID I DO THIS?!". I LOVE the character interactions, but some of those quests...I say "some"... >.>

I'll be playing COD and LoL until Crysis 2 comes out. Also hopefully Diablo 3 comes out during the summer, that will definitely keep me busy all the way to Skyrim and beyond.

After playing Witcher and Dragon Age, I have no interest in buying Witcher 2 or Dragon Age 2.

So it's Oblivion for me.
Unfortunately :sadvaultboy: (but perhaps good news for you :) )... They have supposedly changed the gameplay with Witcher 2. I plan to buy it anyway (for the detailed world, and writing), but I suspect that they have ruined most of what I liked about the game's combat mechanics. I just hope they haven't screwed up the game's alchemy system. In short, don't judge it by it's predecessor ~it may be as different as Fallout 2 & 3 :(

What I've seen of it was very very impressive (but they were still tinkering with it).
