What gender will you choose for your 1st play threw?

Male, but I'll definitely be playing as a woman at some point. I'm just not sure what I'd make her look like.

I often play two files running together. One with a female and one with a male. Why? GENDER EQUALITY, BABY!!

Female. Even though I'm a dude, I've always enjoyed female leads in movies and literature. Nothing sixual, I just always enjoyed female leads for some reason.

I'm the same way. With media choked full of badass male protagonists, I feel like I'm stepping outside the norm by creating badass female protagonists.

Lol, I break the mold by making ugly male/female characters. At some point I'm going to go through the game with a character that looks like http://static1.squarespace.com/static/5227cd84e4b02515a5badc7f/52c0d51ae4b05150bfa68d65/52c0d55fe4b0f99a064e720f/1388369249226/wilyarms.jpg?format=750w; and he'll probably be comparable to Solid Snake in gameplay. That's why I always have trouble designing a female character; there aren't really many ugly female characters to go off of, unless I make her look like the Wicked Witch of the West.

Besides some minor differences in dialogue, the main reason would be for a second play through I probably want to play as a different type of character, therefore I will probably want to hear a different voice.

I'll be playing as a Male protagonist for my first playthrough, definitely. As others have mentioned, I find it a lot easier to relate the character to myself and it makes it easier form a role-playing perspective.

Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever played as a female character in any of BGS's games...or at least not for as long as I can remember. I'll most likely play as a Female during my second playthrough, to see if there will be any change from playing as a Male, or failing that just for a bit of diversity.

EDIT: Oh...and for the difference in voice acting of course! Bethesda spent a lot of time on the voice acting and I feel I have to justify that by playing through at least once as a Female. (As if Bethesda's games weren't repayable enough, this adds yet another :D )

Alternating playthroughs as both. With games with decent character creation/developement I always play more than one character at a time and make them very different.

....remember to suggest that when the mod forum pops up.

(Hmm, although if it were to use sound assets from Mass Effect, it likely wouldn't be allowed on any of the main mod sites.)

I say female because I'd rather be watching a girl all day everyday for months than a dude. Something easy on the eyes. Not too easy though. That power armor should be obtained pretty early.

Male, though I always have one or two playthroughs with a female PC just to see if I can do anything differently i.e seducing Benny before murdering him.

True, dude.

That's what should be posted on every Strategy guide ever written for games with custom characters.
Screw skill points, alignment, playstyle...sixism and Racism are the only things that matter.

Male. Not only am I male, I always felt a male character is more respected in fallout games.

Example being fallout 2 where if you are a girl people will ask you to sleep with them and you will get various things such as discounts etc. Or in fallout New vegas how if you are a woman, you are treated as lesser in the legion and arent even allowed to enter into the fighting pits (nor neccesarily even join the legion)

True, but way I see it, make your character the way YOU want it, not what some random person on the internet wants.

I plan to play one of my characters as the Default!male Howard because I've just grown attached to him.

My second file will have a black female lisbian. Why? Because I can, that's why.

I normally pick male, as I am one. I do like to play a female on a subsequent playthrough though. Im thinking I might play female first this time.

I need to hear more of the characters dialogue in order to decide. I hope they release more otherwise Id hate to pick female or male and then be irritated the whole game due to their voice. Only time will tell.

Well the weapons category on steam workshop for skyrim has lots of swords from different games so it should be fine?
All fallout games are full of little nods to books, films and games so I would be genuinely surprised if theres no nods at all to either voice actor's game history.
