What's so great about Argonians?

Post » Wed Oct 19, 2011 1:18 pm

I can give you my reason. I am pretty sure it will be different that others'.

I want to play a demon, but the game doesn't have that as a race, so I will be an argonian, and try my best to make him look like a demon.

I rather like playing an against type character.

My handsome Imperial might also be a treacherous necromancer/philiac.
My brutish looking Orc might be a noble wizard.
My little Bosmer might be a axe wielding bad ass.

Argonian is really the only race I haven't spent much time with....and doesn't make a lot of sense....cold blooded critter in a snowy landscape...
I think I might play an Argonian and just chill and sloooooowly explore in the warmer climates.

Something about a lizardman wearing a fur suit strikes me as hilarious.

Ultimately you can have a hell of a lot of fun using any race unless maybe powergaming is your style.

There is nothing objectively "great" about them.

And apparently Argonians are NOT cold-blooded

As long as it's no wing-flapping, long-smooth-hair-anime-face-costum-race gob[censored]e, I'm all good.

Seriously though, costume made hair and hair is usually the worst this community has to offer.

Proud Dunmer since 2002.

....cold blooded critter in a snowy landscape....

nothing says they are cold blooded, i dont know where people get the idea that they are (besides, they evolved during the oblivion crisis, so even if they were they might not be now)

Not bashing people who like Argonians, but so many times I've read that people's first race in Skyrim will be an Argonian. I've seen polls where Argonians far outrank other races in terms of favoritism. What about wicked Dunmers or badass Nords? Why out of all the races, people pick the most (in my eyes) unlikely one? I mean, a cold-blooded lizard in an icy tundra? I can only lol at that.

Uh, maybe because I am not a hardcoe role player and do not care if it makes sense or not? I am sure that hardcoe roleplayers could invent a reason why their argonian can survive the cold anyways. What makes any other race so great? All the races look good this time around in my opinion.

Personally, I am picking an argonian because I never played as a beast race in oblivion and I thought it would be cool to play as one in skyrim. Plus, I intend to focus on stealth skills, which argonians are proficient in.

Edit: Also, this
They have good racial abilities.

When out in the field, and with the right spices, they have their uses.

WHY DO YOU CARE?

honest question. not understanding is the first step to ignorance. if you already have a predisposition towards something why do you expect the opinion of another to alter that?

So embarking on the journey to enlightenment is the first step to ignorance? Incongruous talk if i ever i saw it.

You could help that situation by checking both your facts and your tone before posting. There are a number of better ways you could have worded both the title and your OP

BECAUSE HE'S CURIOUS TO LEARN WHY PEOPLE DO

Honest reply. Being interested in why other people see a desirable choice when to him there's no real reason to do it indicates that's he's inquisitive and interested in hearing others opinions. How anyone can take the OP's question and spin it is beyond me. As an FYI though, not understanding is not a step towards ignorance. I don't understand quantum physics, for example. That doesn't mean I'm ignorant of its importance or existence. Refusing to understand is a good first step towards ignorance, but the OP is clearly not refusing to understand- he's asking about it. :icecream:

How many games can I play as a 6'ft talking lizard man? Now how many games can you play as a Nord-ish type character?.... So why would anyone want to play as a Nord when there more unique options.

I have never seen any evidence to support such claims... Got any proof? Or are you just another person that heard something from someone who was in an argument were proof may/may not have been involved?

Just the fact that they are in skyrim. Take a lizard and put it on a snowy mountain for a few hours. Now you've got a popsicle. Unless this happens with argonians, they are officially warm blooded.

They resist disease, they can breath underwater, dragons are reptiles and so are Argonians, and they looks cool, but still not as good as Nords though.

I think the fascination of Argonians started with The Lusty Argonian Maid. It's true for me. Ever sense reading it...I'm gonna refrain from continuing on account of the forum rules.
