What happened to Centaurs?

Post » Tue Feb 09, 2016 5:10 am

The introduction of the new Mutant Hounds is an interesting move by Bethesda, because the Centaurs from past games serve the same role and are a lot more original. Which begs the question, why? Mutant hounds are interesting, especially there horn like howls, but Centaurs where just much more interesting.

Never cared for centaurs, but I do wonder what happened to the robobrains. They weren't in use in the Commonwealth area before the war?

Edit: As to the centaurs ...

Spoiler
The super mutants in the Commonwealth were created by the Institute's experiments, so there are no local centaurs. Obviously the Institute experimented on dogs, though.

The Super mutants of the common wealth are institute made so it was not just a dip and see approach like the vault 87 mutants, plus the mutant hounds are most likely dogs the institute was using as FEV test subjects while the Centaurs were just humans who didn't take to the FEV as well most likely due to not being pure strain humans.

Should also be mentioned that In the vault 87 FEV it does not seem dogs were exposed to it so no mutant hounds would exist in the Capital wasteland.

Either way let em eat lead.

Kinda reminds me of those mutant tapeworms in 1 and 2, a lot of stuff is gone, like ants

Centaurs were creating with a human, a dog and other animals in one cell and infected with the FEV. They morphed together and there you go. There's no active FEV vault so really how would they be made?

When I first played Fallout 3, Centaurs legitly freaked me out, tbh.

In the book 'art of fallout 4' there is a bit of concept art on the centaurs. So perhaps it was the plan from the start to include them. They looked a lot more freaky in that concept compared to FO3 aswell ;)

Maybe because Centaurs didn't really offer anything as a threat, too slow

I was wondering the same thing recently. The range attack that Centaurs had was actually quite cool if they spotted you first.

Bethesda was probably playing some beta version of Doom and thought- Hounds! Of course! The fans wont notice!

Maybe they thought the Centaur looked so freaky they moved the design over to Doom?
