What happened to Mister Sandman Perk?

Post » Sat Sep 10, 2011 6:34 pm

Ugh, every time I try to do a sandman murder, everyone around (even people who are not close by) will automatically detect me including the person I am trying to murder and then attack me. What the hell is this, did one of the patches screw up this otherwise used to work perfectly perk?

I'm doing the perk for role-playing purposes, he's a silent killer that likes to get as close as possible including slitting people's throats.

Joshua Graham's Armor. Boomers. I don't know what their perception level is. No dogs.

I see...

In that case, just Shank 'em in the neck with a Silenced Comat Knife.

Before the patches, mister sandman worked perfectly, but for some reason even if your using a stealthboy, when you do it on boomers, they all immedietely know where you are and shoot you on sight. I just did it with the Khans and it worked normally when I killed Papa Khan, but when I killed another Khan it made a Khan in another tent quite a distance to wake up and be cautious to me. I killed Alice McLafferty with it and it worked fine.

It appears that they modified the perk to not work against high perception npc's. Don't even try it on the boomers, it's a complete fail.

Yeah it is definitely borked. I think Sneak is borked in general since the last patch or the one before.

Sandman specifically, here's what I usually get. I sneak in undetected, select Murder, animation starts, target gets up and goes aggro while I'm stuck in the animation, alerting everything around, then falls dead, leaving me detected and in combat. 8 out of 10 attempts, with 100 sneak, this still happens.

Its not a perk I would take very often, only for RP purposes would I bother but I have used this in the Forlorn Hope camp, the other NCR did respond in a way
because they made some dialog comments but they did not attack but I have used it else where and they have attacked. Both times with me wearing Armored
leather with sneak 90+
