What happened the Dunmers?

Post » Tue Nov 29, 2011 1:25 am

Why all the dunmer-hate? I think it's a pity what happened to Vvardenfell... And I find it hard to believe that argonians could invade ANYTHING... guess the Red Year made the dunmer vulnerable enough for the argonians to actually gather their nerve for once... Pfah! I feel no pity for the argonian or khajiit slaves of Morrowind, they're little more than house-pets, after all... I don't cry out for their equal rights, but neither do I hunt them for sport.
Why the dunmer hate? A response towards argonian hate perpetuated by dunmer fanatics and the childish screams of "I'M GOING TO KILL EVERY ARGONIAN AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA!"

I don't have much against them, but their fanbase makes me hate them almost as much as the altmer.

psh, how hilarious is it that people seem think genocide of a race is justifiable.

its not Genocide, its payback
Argonians arnt going around the world and killing every Dunmer they know, >.>

ill put it like this,
If a Serial Killer Murdered your family, and there wasnt a THING you can do about it about it. Years later you see that same Serial Killer in a car crash with a broken leg and arm, he may have a family, or may be a changed man but it doesnt matter you want payback...he took your family from you and your not going to walk away intil blood is payed for the death of your family....

now take Serial killer and replace it with Dunmer slavers and slave owners
take Family and put it with Argonians

Not really. Indoril was being picked apart by the Telvanni and Hlaalu. Dres mainly controls southern/south east/eastern Morrowind.

And like what BadVoodoo said, the argonians were not intent of purging the dunmer race, but remove them from Morrowind as payback for 1000s of years of abuse from their northern neighbors who constantly tried to encroach on their territory. Plus, it's not like all argonians hate dunmer. Mere-Glim had a huge thing for a dunmer wormy on Umbriel.

That's a faulty comparison. Think more of it like this: A farmer kills a cow. Then the farmer trip and breaks his ankle. Then another cow tramples him. Substitute 'farmer' with 'dunmer', and 'cow' with 'argonian'.

First of all, argonians don't really exist, so I don't have to feel guilty about discriminating them. They are effectively livestock, at least in the eyes of most dunmers of Morrowind, and that's what matters...

Ah that clarifies it; In that case, there's probably still Dunmers living in Morrowind.

Assuming its only the old powers getting shoved out of Morrowind.

And crate, it's unlikely. I know in the book the argonians were able to get to the crater previously known as Vivec City on Vvardenfell, so I can only assume they got far north enough to even drive the remaining members of Redoran out too.

Also, if the book is any indication, the dunmer feel betrayed by their house system. Or at least the nobles on Solstheim did feel that way. They used to be Indoril, but abandoned it and live as the rulers of a village on Solstheim and not aligned to any house. The nordic villagers there don't seem to mind, and they have some pretty loyal nordic servants.

They drop in enough tidbits here and there to gain some understanding of what happened after Oblivion. Though, you'll find that the books tend to lean more about cooking edible feelings and serving them to daedric nobles.

I will play a Dunmer refugee. I hate what happened to Morrowind and Dunmer culture. That beautiful land, destroyed. The other part taken by damn lizards. That is why I will hate lizards, nords, orcs, imperials in Skyrim. I will rob them, kill them. I will help other Dunmer people and I will do everything to see the empire gone, and will try to create dunmer villages and towns. (I will mod them in by myself, but will RP it) And I will preserve Dummer culture by any way possible.

Funny, because as I mentioned, there are dunmer who feel completely betrayed by the house system, which made up a huge portion of their culture. Not to mention they were under some heavy stagnation.

The Nords and their orc allies were attacking before Red Mountain blew. After that, Solsthiem (and apparently Eastmarch) let Dunmer refugees in.

Edit: And I laugh every time people say the Dunmer were changing "for the better". They were going to fall back to Daedra worship after the Tribunal fell, and only banned slavery cause Helseth told them to. They did not have a change of heart, and they always hated Breton-Dunmer King Helseth. As soon as he was gone, they'd bring back slavery.

I wont argue that the house system was crap, remmeber they got little done, fought each other openly ALOT and generally bished and moaned rather than getting stuff done. BUT COME ON They gave the middlefinger to everything that tried to exploit them and cherished those that were not so much wanting to exploit them (daedric princes) again I ask would you not be mad and distrusful if your bretheren shunned you and people walked over your hard fought lands?

The Daedric Princes are pretty much the definition of "something that will exploit you." The Tribunal showed some love for it's people. The Aedra are changed by worship, so they care about their people because their people want them to. Azura? The best thing I've seen her compared to is the stereotypical High School cheerleader.

That comparison doesn't work and is completely unjustifiable on a grand scale. The slaughter of all Dunmer they came across is not payback, its genocide. You can't hold an entire race acountable for the actions of some. By that logic, any and all who's family ever had slaves in the past might as well kill themselves now, we deserve it after all. <_<

Morrowind is gone, the Dunmer are refugees.

Argonians took over what was left of Morrowind.

Nords haven't been bothered by Argonians as far as I know.

Really? It has been confirmed that Morrowind was never retaken or rebuilt? I mean it is a couple hundred years after The Infernal City isn't it?

Argonians are just slaves how could they possibly control a province. pphbt..

The book never addresses the Mainland, there is no way Argonians took the entire Mainland, and Red Mountain is not big enough to erupt that far out.
