What happened to the dwarves!?

Post » Thu Mar 24, 2011 6:01 pm

The more important question is where did they come from?

When a manmer and a wommer love each other very much - or have otherwise ingested too much cornberry ale....

They stand in the proper position, and out from their bodies are released spores, which shall eventually grow into people wearing permanent underwear.

Wasn't it the Ehlnofey who called the Dwemer "dwarves"? The must have branched off really early...

No, it was giants. The Ehlnofey was proto-man/mer, and fragmented when a group settled (aldmer or proto-mer) and the other wandered (men). From there it further fragmented as time went on. Hist (and likewise, the argonians) don't count though.

The Giants are the Ehlnofey.

So either way.

Oh my. And I thought dwarven spore-based reproduction was unique to Dwarf Fortress.
The world is certainly a strange place.

Spore reproduction began to occur in morrowind, when the perma-underwear was bound to the people.

i do not believe that the dwemer were very much like the aldmer first of the architecture is completely difrent also the dwemer were so more far advanced technologically than any other race i have seen and the aldmer relied far more on magic or so i have been led to believe. another thing is the beards no other elven race that i have seen has beards like that. also their weapons and armor are heavy while the other elven races Orc excluded! used medium to light armor. So they were through my eyes stronger, bearded and super smart elves who i believe put more faith in science and wanted to be gods almost or just immortal. its rely a shame they all went poof id love a chance to see a few without corpus lol and ask questions!!

on a side note i know next to nothing on falmer because there is little lore about them but i will go as far as to assume that they also used medium armor.

Bosmer has beards. Dunmer as well.

Unless you were talking about that particular beard style of theirs, which isn't really a valid point to raise ("no other race cropped their hair mohawk-style a la the Dunmer," etc.).

id call those things the other elven races have silly wimpy boy beards, dwemer beards are a valid point in their culture! how many ancient elven statues in oblivion had beards??? or the elven characters have big fluffy beards? and what of my other facts? what other elven race not counting orcs made heavy armor? and used such crazy science? so i think they are not nearly as close to the aldmer as some might think nor to any other elven race, falmer excluded as we no next to nothing of them. on an interesting note if any one remember in morrowind a certain robbed nord he was tricked by some witch and now he is attempting to get his axe back also he has no clothes on? he states his father was killed by snow elves idk if there is anything special about it but i find it intriguing.

The Dwemer disappeared long ago. So what are these http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Articles.Detail&id=86&game=9 about dwarves living in the mountains of Skyrim? Perhaps another misapplication of terms?

I'm going to laugh if these "dwarves" end up looking like Rieklings with beards. ;)

No, they're referring to ancient Dwemer ruins, in which Dwemer once lived. They don't still live there.

Skyrim is inhabited by Nords and dwarves.

Unless this is a mistranslation from Dutch, in order to say they are talking about ruins, we will, much like Bill Clinton, have to quibble over what the definition of "is" is.

Trust me, if the Dwarves came back (which they probably won't), you'd know. It would feature prominently because it would shift the mythic balance again.

I don't think that they're acually dead. I just think that they left, maybe whent to Akivir? I don't know but to just assume that they're dead is kind of a quick guess isn't it?

I can see it now-A dungeon filled with Dwemer Centurions crushed by voice, a little elven girl steps from behind a column and says "Sorry about that, Daddy and Divath should have told us you were coming. I'm Brunja Bagarn".

YB is nothing but Corprus at this point, there's no way there will be little dwemer kiddies running around, and I'd assume DF wouldn't really care about recreating them.

If Azura asked Divayth to he probably would.

Oh sure, All that has to happen is for Azura to ask. That would be like Hellmouth recruiting for the Emperor's Children. Azura is the last person who would want the dwemer back.

Going to have to agree with this statement. And even then, I highly doubt it's in anyone's power to bring them back, as they're now a god that regularly kicks Akatosh in the balls, and smoke while flipping the bird, because they smoke when they give the bird.

"No. Impossible. His "Wife/Daughters" were made in his likeness and was not an easy task. I assume it was painstaking enough that he would never attempt it again. In the case of the Dwemer, it is highly unlikely that this is a power within his grasp. Even attempting this would end in failure."--VXSS (on Fyr cloning the Dwemer)

It's not like the devs couldn't bend the lore, like they already did with the Cyrodiil jungle thing and whatnot. And bending isn't necessarily even required, since it's unclear whether the Dwemer failed, what happened to the heart, or if the knowledge regarding reversing the procedure is available or not. Though i doubt that the Devs ever want to break the mystery, the thing in the magazine is probably a misunderstanding.
