I think you should test it out and let us know what happens.

Seriously, I don't see anything in the help about it. But my guess would be exactly what you predicted: everyone would be DRT.

a clever way to keep us coming back...brutal punishment if we stop playing. that's actually one of the most abusive game mechanics I've ever seen.


i guess, if you get so tired of this that you need a break, you may as well not ever come back, i don't need the stress trying to recover from that. 51 dweller in the vault all in their mid 20's-30's. 100k caps to revive everyone? have to collect 5000 resources all over again? no thanks

This isn't really explained in my Guide but I can somewhat confirm that if you log out to the Main Menu and you don't play for say 8 hours that nothing happens. It's fairly unlikly that 2 days would kill off your entire vault. I am testing this now on a third save game. However, the problem is I'm having a hard time killing my Dwellers off. I have all of them but one in the wasteland. However, now I have 6 new dwellers outside the vault door. Until I can determine otherwise, If your resources are above the green line, if you left for two days and didn't play, as long as you quit to the main menu as I state in my guide, then you should be fine.

IIRC, there's a loading screen tip that says Dwellers continue using resources for "a short time" after you log out, or something to that effect. That would suggest that the Vault goes into a sort of stasis until the next time you play.
