What happens to the Nerevarine after Morrowind?

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 9:02 pm

My Nerevarine stayed in Morrowind, and was becoming a powerful influence by leading the Temple. Helseth was able to assassinate him carefully, and then covered it up by killing those that knew of it. Now, no one knows what happened to my Nerevarine.

Of course there's nothing in Oblivion or the other text that supports this, but with a tiny amount of imagination I can pretend it occured. It would be very difficult for Beth to make a game in which nothing of the previous game was certain to occur. Canonically, the Blight was ended and there was some figure known as the Nerevarine, the Tribunal have vanished, Helseth wasn't killed by the player (and nor was the entire non-respawning population destroyed by a werewolf...), etc etc. If you don't want such things this way, mod the game, or just pretend.

I'd rather have the vague references and rumors than a Dragon Break at the end of every game...

I think Nerevarine had been imprisoned soon after the events in Vvanderfell. The Emperor has ordered to spread rumors about his/her departure to Akavir, whilst the person was held in the Imperial prison. 6 years of incarceration had rendered Nerevarine weak (but sill he or she could kill a rat with 1 blow of anything) and stupid (he/she cannot make powerful potions any more, cannot levitate, cannot make enchantments of his/her own), and his memory erased by experimenting mages guild alchemists (in order to prevent him from posing a threat to stability in Vvanderfell region, in case he'll ever go there).

I doubt six years would degenerate a person that much. I personally blamed it on my character being cursed by Azura (though its abit more complicated than just that) - however, now that he has corprus and is immortal he's free to live forever and be my character from here on out without any need to explain his long life...

The Nerevarine can also be viewed as the man or woman (or elf or betmer) who does the dirty work for the rest of Tamriel, the things they're unwilling or unable to do. If you fulfilled the main quest of "Morrowind", you did it alone, not as a messianic Dune figure leading an army. If you played "Tribunal" or "Bloodmoon", you did the main quests alone, if I remember right. The Nerevarine was everyone's puppet, until he or she finished the Tribunal's destruction (though I didn't attempt to kill Vivec, myself) and presumably left for Akavir as an explorer, the strings cut at last.

At least, that seems logical to me. In a book about "Star Trek", David Gerrold concluded that we're finished with Fay Wray once King Kong is dead -- I've forgotten what other examples he cited.

Following his defeat of Almalexia, my Nereverine was imprisoned, tortured, and driven mad by the Empire. A pitying Caius Cosades had him moved into a particular cell in the Imperial Prison, where he met once again with his fellow Blades. Interestingly, he had completely forgotten how to enchant things. This didn't bother him much, though, because everyone else had as well.

My Nerevarine settled down in obscurity in the wilderness, to experiment with alchemy and enchanting. Occasionally he makes a trip to Suran for a little company and a jar or two of sujama. He finds rumours of his activites amusing and occasionally starts a few of his own.

His Dad, who saved Uriel from Oblivion and then became a Blades agent and good friend of Uriel VII, died in Daggerfall after Numidium was activated.

His son vaguely remembers him, and becomes the Champion of Cyrodiil at the tender age of 17.

No one remembers their names because when Ria Silmane hid the identity of her Champion it couldn't be undone, and became a hereditary curse. Each had to use aliases rather than thier birth names.

My Nerevarine had to flee to Akavir after trying to chase the Empire away from Morrowind.
The legions where stronger than he expected.

Thing is, if they gave the Nerevarine an identity, and mor eof a role, it would really cut the freedom you were given in Morrowind. There you could RP whatever you wanted to happen with the Nerevarine. The rumor in Oblivion, is just a rumor. For all they know, the Nerevarine could be dead, retired some place quiet, or gone missing.

The Nerevarine being in Akavir is a rumour
But it hints that something is happening or going to happen in Akavir, most likely a future game will revolve around it

My Nerevarine continued to experiment with Skills Self-Enchantment and Alchemy - until he became just a bit too powerful for the Universe he inhabited. At that point he decided to go Universe-hopping. Beyond the Aurbis into other dimensions each stranger than the last. Before he left the Aurbis he established a link to the Magica that permeates it and shielded the link from detection and accidental harm.

At a certain point in times and spaces he then solved the puzzle of self-generated Magica and became independant from the source. He is currently visiting the third planet around an insignificant star called Sol in a Galaxy that some of the inhabitants of that planet call the Milky Way - you know the one. But don't expect to see him - he perfected invisibility and insubstantiality some time ago. Right now he is standing behind you and laughing :D

My favourite Morrowind nod in Oblivion has to be the rumour that St Jiub, who managed to drive the Cliff Racers from Vvardenfell, perished fighting the Daedra. I believe there is a mod that makes Jiub the Nerevarine...

took a hike to Akavir and never returned. it would be interesting if the next game is about a war between the empire and a Akavir nation, like the Taesaci, and the Nevevariane made a appereance. there is back story about The Empires past wars with Akavir, or the Taesici (snake-men, who are based off ancient-medieval Japan) to be exact, the most recent one being The Empires invasion in the late 300s to the 420s 3E, i cant remember the exact date, refer to The ingame book 'Report: Disaster at Lonith' for exact Details.

Yes, i love these games. Vey interesting back story. if your determined, you can even learn ancient aylied in real life, check the TES UESP wiki, or search Ayleid language in google, it should be near the top. It aint easy.

The Nerveraine in Akavair would be like Jack Burton in Big Trouble in Little China.

I'm fine with the Akavir rumor, it's better than no mention of him at all, I would have liked it if Oblivion could read your selected Morrowind save and add a few new rumors relating to things you did in Morrowind (based on your MW journal).

I would be annoyed though, because I would go to play morrowind and find a note saying "gon 2 akavir kthxbai" hahaha.
