What Has Blown Your Mind?

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 2:10 pm

So I'm pretty sure this has all happened to us. You're sitting in your chair, playing a game, watching a movie, listening to music, etc. and something just literally jumps right out at you and you're at a loss of words. The reason I just posted this is because I just saw Coppola's The Conversation for the first time and I'm at quite a loss of words. I don't even know what to think. When has this happened to you? Some of the other times I can think of is the reveal of the Origami Killer in Heavy Rain, the end of The Usual Suspects, Sixth Sense, etc.

Well... That I have spent a lot of money just to get my PS3 and to get it working on a monitor.

Well of course there is me getting the PS3 for $175

I had an LCD monitor, and I bought the cords for me and a friend online for it. That turned out to be around $19.00. My friend payed me back $12 for the cords and a game that I lent him five bucks for. I spent that to cover half of the Hdmi cable listed below.

Then I got the hdmi cable in the mail and broke it by pulling it out of the tv the wrong way (the tv wasn't able to move, it was amazing that I got it in the slot), so I had to go buy a new one that was more sturdy for $22.

Then I got all the parts in the mail, and they didn't work on my monitor since it was so old, so I went and bought a $200 emerson tv that works really nice and is a HD flat screen.

Then I got of course a lot of games that totaled out to be $45.

So all in all, I spent about $449 for it all... I am glad I had a lot of money left over from my job. Glad I'm getting a new one to! haha. Still pretty good for all of that, but it seriously blew my mind that I spent that much money in the last two weeks.. I didn't like it but at the same time I do because now it is all over, and I don't have to buy anymore... I am content.

Or the announcement of New Vegas, even after JES was not so subtle when dropping tweets. The wheel just had come full circle.
The second the brain from outer space in the Little Rock of Horrors episode of Billy & Mandy began to sing.
Dune, the entire series.

...oh, and Mandy, The Merciless, in which future Mandy is a huge, psychic worm hybrid, who depends on cinnamon. You know, a show for kids!

The first time I realized that Deus Ex was my favorite game. Sure, it was a gradual process, but there was very literally one point where I just sat back in my chair and said "My god..." and realized the high bar Fallout 3 set for my favorite game had been passed.

As for non-videogame related moments... the first time I flew in an airplane and took the window seat. That was amazing, though the 6+ hour flight saw to it that I got tired of it eventually. The first time I rode B.A.R.T. to Oakland and the opposite side of the bay from San Francisco and saw the silhouette of the city was also awesome. That's all I can think of atm.

In a movie/video game nothing. I got my mind blown when I got to the top of a mountain and looked down. That was very awesome.

When I found a woman I loved, and she loved me back. When I asked her to marry me and she said yes. When she cheated on me and let me know with a text message.

Daawww, that wasn't supposed to be mean at all. I'm just happy that people are still able to see that the ways of F3 are neither original nor best in their shooter-RPG mixture. ^_^

Playing Kingdom Hearts after thinking for the longest time that Final Fantasy paired with Disney was going to be a disaster. I've always loved both Final Fantasy and Disney, but a union of the two seemed unholy. Spent a year after its release shrugging off the rave reviews, set in my ways. Finally gave it a try when Kingdom Hearts II was announced. Nearly 10 years later I can't help but think how wrong I was.

And then there's the glorious cluster[censored] that is the Kingdom Hearts storyline.

When I saw the title of this thread I was going to say the Origami Killer, but you already said it. :(

So here is another one, the ending of Red Dead Redemption.
