What have you only just discovered about the game?

Post » Sat Apr 02, 2011 1:08 am

I found a small section of metro near the Bethesda Ruins - I decided to go down and explore and got jumped by half a dozen feral ghouls barely inside the damn door. Nothing of major interest down there, but it leads up to a manhole outside of the ruins. Might come in handy if someone wants to outflank the Raiders.

I also recently discovered the origin point of several of the radio distress beacons; I was amused to discover one hidey-hole that contained two dead Chinese Commandos; got myself a Commando Hat (+1 Perception like most hats). I don't think you can find it anywhere else unless you count the Hat of the People over in The Pitt.

There is also one in the Taft Tunnels, where you run from the Enclave after they take the purifier. That's where I found my first one. I love the commando hats, and I often wear one.

If you leave your character alone without pausing, the camera will actually start to pan around your character.

If you listen closely while in Dr. Zimmer's hotel room at the Weatherly, you can hear six noises coming from another room. This may only happen the first time you enter the room, but I'm not sure.

I heard them in the Citadel, in one of the rooms off the laboratory.

The hollowed out rock next to Megaton, that contains a sniper rifle and ammo, really usefull for a new character just out of the vault.
I found this by accident while being chased by a molerat.

I only just realized that if you
Spoiler
use the Liniment on Harold's heart during the 'Oasis' quest
, it actually DOES make a difference to the Wasteland. You just have to look carefully.

not if your finger slips on the fire button and you discover this,

you can kill Harold with heavy incinerator, he lights up like a Christmas Tree :)
and then looses his branches, oops!, kinda liked him to :(

You can keep track of your rads while drinking by watching the red graph in the upper right corner of the screen - I bring this up specifically for those of us doing Moira's quest and drinking the water around Megaton's bomb (It's a lot safer than getting randomly irradiated out in the Wasteland and trying to get back to base afterwards, after all).

I just discoverd this: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Patrick%27s_Farewell

After 100+ hours on my character.

Oh wow. I never found that even after my 500+ hours of play. And I just found a dead body with a note ,in which I believe he was talking about how he was regretful of dying before he found and rescued his enslaved love.

The Mirelurk den in the mall. Ive played the game through 3-4 times without even noticing that hole in the street :D

Wait, what? I have to go check that out.

That if you help in the Outcasts in O:A while wearing Outcast armor, they think you are one of them.

When you first meet him, yes. I was really shocked. Then, McGraw finds out you are an outsider.

I once knocked out an Enclave Officer in a fistfight when I blocked and somehow her hitting my fists knocked her out.

I mean, if you look carefully around the Wasteland, you can find small patches of healthy, growing vegetation after you complete the quest.
Some of the spots I've come across it:

-Near Raven Rock
-Close to the Dunwich Building
-Republic of Dave area
-Paradise Falls

The problem is, the patches of greenery are usually small and difficult to spot- the eye skips right over them sometimes.
And I'm not certain whether or not they spawn randomly.
But I am certain they weren't there before.

I agree with Met. I've found patches of green vegetation..whereas before I had found the very rare green individual green weed...

@Met: What's with the squid look? I miss the blue hair and twitchy eye.... :poke:

Edit:

Please excuse the wording re the vegetation...and no, I haven't been onto the green weed...just tired from work....
