What have you only just discovered about the game?

Post » Fri Apr 01, 2011 9:41 pm

I've discovered how the world changes as one goes about completing quests and am not just talking the big end quest here. Theres other more subtle changes before that which are pretty cool especially when the Enclave show up.

Oh ho, what's this?
By all means, elaborate. What subtle changes are you referring to, exactly?

Putting landmines in people's pockets is cool! (I knew you could do it but never really appreciated it 'til today)

I'd love to hear that, too, especially since a gripe I have is that only raiders, enclave, BOS etc ever respawn in my game. I've yet to see Arefu or Megaton or any other place grow after making them safer. Maybe the changes are too subtle for me to notice.

It seems a bit odd that the only "new" people coming into the area, and there are lots of 'em, are all bad guys whose only reason for being is to serve as targets in a shooting gallery.

Indeed, the raider population has be lowered but hundreds in my game and they still keep on coming however non of the cities seems to change at all....Also they only NPC that are effected by the Enclave seem to be ones that spawn with them....

I just discovered that if you shoot a grenade in the hand of an enemy before he throws it and they blow up you get no XP. Weak!

I heard that you could "break" the grenade too. It wouldn't explode, but instead become a seperate item called "Broken Frag Grenade"

Last thing I remember learning

It wasn't til my fifteenth char that I learned that the BOS had their own QM who can be coerced in to serving as a merchant or equivalent thereof

She's kind of cute so I don't mind it when she calls me nasty names, the sense of power I get from compelling her to trade with me under Lyons orders sort of makes up for in a sadistic sort of way

And she certainly is a refreshing break from Moira

If you kill Moriarty, Gob paints his name over the saloon.

Also had no clue you could just hold down to drink.

Using FWE, this also added like 50 dirty waters to my inventory.

I really should have known about this when I had access to Vault 101, I could have had so many purified waters.

If you listen closely while in Dr. Zimmer's hotel room at the Weatherly, you can hear six noises coming from another room. This may only happen the first time you enter the room, but I'm not sure.

I discovered this a while ago, but a brief Google didn't turn up any results on the internet which surprised me, so I thought I'd post it here. Also, I [censored] bricks when I read that you can hold down the button to drink. D:

that a nuclear blast has no effect on children

Then you didn't talk to the female hotel owner in Goul City, cuz apparently, she was a child when the bomb went off and that is why she turned into a goul cuz she saw the blast.

Ive herd these noises to, usually in the middle of the night (game time) and not just in Zimmers room! I went to investigate nearby rooms in sneak mode They are the noises of people dreaming.

I only found that out yesterday too! But then, I don't use grenades much anyway. It was a while before I leanred you could hold the button down and continue drinking as opposed to going up and down all the time.

WOW! ive played for 100+h and still never know it until you said it now.

If, after your 10th bday party, the overseer leaves when you're supposed to meet Jonas, you can overhear him talking to one of the guards about how he really feels about you.

that you can tipcows over with your hands while crouching.

Hilarious!

Me too. And also that the dial in the pip-boy actually turns and clicks when you scroll up and down in it.

I think it took me nearly a month or two before finding the Reilley's Rangers Compound, I knew I wanted to get there after completing Reilley's mission, but I kept searching and couldn't find anything. I actually found the place by mistake while pursuing a Super Mutant if I remember correctly. I also remember struggling for a day or two to actually find my way to the mission itself despite all the directions given by Reilly.

Can't believe no one's posted this yet, but... I found out on my current game that you can activate parking meters! In all those ruined parking lots, all those old parking meters read 'Time Expired'. And if you walk up to them and press X, they click and the tag goes down. Just doing my part as a good samaritan, making sure the long-dead will be able to return to their car and find no tickets on it. Or worse, have it towed away!

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, though I have for a while, but the citizens of Rivet City actually talk about your exploits after Clifford's sermon, though they don't know you had anything to do with it.
