IDK if there is already a topic fell free to lock it.

What hooked you to the ES games, what made you a fan?
Me, It was in 2005 and I was at my friends house and he showed me Morrowind. He had a house with some servants and was bragging about a Sword called fury. Then he showed me the Glass Armor and i was impressed. Then he left the house and went exploring, it was rainy and in a forest, and ended up at a mine with 2 hostile people in front. then he stopped playing. I wanted the game because I remember seeing the Khajit in the manual. The thing is, I didn't know the name of the game and it wasn't til 4 years when i played TES for the fist time.

It was in 2009 and I bought the Oblivion/Bioshock double pack. Playing Oblivion, I was like, this is like Fallout 3, then I learned the same developers made it and said "oh thats why". I was hooked and had about 200 hours in it. a year later i bought Morrowind GotY after learning the series was called The Elder Scrolls. couldn't learn the combat so gave it to my friend.

Now I played Resident Evil 5 and those end of chapter stat sections, that music reminds me of Morrowind and now I really want it back, but now the guy who has hates me and I hate him.

So whats your TES fan story?

I was 13 years old and my friend told me about this RPG called the elderscrolls where you could be anything you wanted to be.

The only RPGs I had known from that point in my life were turn-based JRPGs so I instantly got some imagery of some top down square enix title in a marshy land with samurais and what have you... given the name "elder" "scroll" When I first picked up Morrowind however, I was treated with quite the opposite.

I think what drew me in the most was the fact that it was open world and I became totally lost. It was really hard to call any place in Morrowind my home since it was all brand new to me so I just kept pushing forward...getting more lost as I went along.

My first play through was a complete mess; I stole items in Vivec city and got killed by the guards numerous times. I'm not sure when i came back to the game..maybe after a few months..and I used the cheats for Xbox to play the game which for some reason did not feel like cheating since I always to keep my health in check.

Probably the open world and freedom. I really can't think of any other rpg games I played before trying Morrowind. I had played installments of the Final Fantasy series but I mostly played RTS games. Morrowind was my first big rpg and I got hooked on the thought needed similar to RTS games plus the rpg gameplay mechanics.

I still come back each installment for the open world, first person, gameplay though. You feel like you are the story rather than in other rpg games where your simply playing along in the story.

I got oblivion in 2007 as a birthday present, It was my first open world game. Aaaand I couldn't stop playing it because of the "go anywhere, do anything" gameplay and the world of TES. I've liked it ever since.
