What house mod are you currently using?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:27 pm

Just curiousity coupled with my own overly critical attitude toward house mods. I can never seem to find the right one. They're either too large, too small, too game breaking, too impractical etc. You get the idea.

So... instead of asking directly for advice, why don't you just link your current home, along with some info, to share with the rest of us? :foodndrink:

http://neon.chem.bg.ac.yu/morrowind/mods/ by Spok. Not too big, not too fancy. Has the option for multiple exteriors and a magic door that can exit to the one you wish to go to.

Although I am thinking of checking out some other houses, I haven't done that in a while. Mudcrab Island looks appealing, as does Orrutus Cavern, Mori Mountain Estate (I used to use A Good PLace To Stay) and then there's Yorick's Tower and...

I always start out with http://lovkullen.net/Emma/Apartement.htm.
It's a FREE one room flat with a comfortable bed on the roof of Caius Coscades' building.
One closet, 6 cupboards, and a basket. You can store a lot of stuff here.

Lately, I've been using http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=275.
It's in Balmora between the Temple and the Alchemist. This one has a scripted price tag, but when you look around and see what you get, it's worth it.
(Bedroom, Closet/display room, Armory, Library with sorting librarian, Alchemy area with sorting assistant, Swimming Pool, Dungeon crawl in the lower levels, Enough storage space to tuck away one of everything in the GOTY - Maybe.)

My own. :P
But if I couldn't use my own, it would be Pegasus Estate by Danae.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2397 was the first housing mod I ever installed, and I still don't play without it. I've been using it for so long, it doesn't feel right without it there.

Currently, http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=163468&id=8266.. it's why I made it in the first place! Just a small apartment for rent in the Balmora Guild of Fighters, with a decent amount of storage space (two chests, two barrels, 3 sacks, and a closet) and a bed. Nothing too much!

At the moment, I'm using a mix of both my http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6731 mod, as well as a heavily altered version of http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3339.

The Living Quarters mod makes for a nice home I can get to easily from anywhere, since a door to (and from!) it is always just an Almsivi Intervention away.

The Tent I modded to have the interior match the size of the exterior. I had to redo said interior as a result, but it gave me an excuse to throw in an alchemy sorter =) Though I mostly use it these days as an easy way to store and carry loot to sell, it's still a nice temporary base.

I pretty much use my own house mods, but I also use http://www.bantari.net/morrowind/ravenloft/, and Dongle's Ranger Tent (with my own http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t67/OrlopRat/TP%20Mods/Redux1.jpg).

I use a bunch of house mods + a stronghold expansion and an other expansion. I use alot of Shezrie's work and from Baratheon79 plus some others.
Currently i use the following house mods and expansions:

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7125&id=3657
medium sized house done by Shezrie. Adds a house in the area behind Ebonheart, next to the pond. Comes with 2 balcony's, a swimming pool, 2 fireplaces, 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, dining area and lot's of storage. The house has 4 floors.
I use this house as a base of my operations. It's cozy and there are no overpowered items in it or other rare things. Just a house which you can call yourself home. I like this house myself very much.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7125&id=3974
Another one by Shezrie. This house is placed in Sadrith Mora and is behind Dirty Muriel's Cornerclub. It's smaller then hideaway cottage, but has still enough storage. It's a 2 floors imperial house and comes also with some displaycases. It has a bar, living room, kitchen, storageroom and bedroom and also a little bathroom. I use this house also as base. In the meantime my stronghold isn't finished yet i use this house to settle myself. Next to that it's in my favourite city. This house has also a teleportation room, but i don't use that one.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7125&id=3879
Guess what; yep, another one from Shezrie. Adds a medium sized house to Solstheim, not far from fort frostmoth.

http://baratheon79.rpgmods.com/housemods.html
3 little ones from Baratheon79. The Seyda Neen Shack adds a shack to the village of Seyda Neen, just next to the house of Foryn Gilnith (the taxman killer)
I use this shack at the very beginning, when i created a character and left the census office. The shack is tiny, like the rest of the shacks out there. 2 barrels, a crate, a chest, a table and a bed. just good if you just set foot in the world.
The Pelagiad Home adds a small house behind the halfway tavern. The house is a bit dark (you can solve that yourself), but it is good for in the beginning. Actually i used this house so far only when i travelled to Pelagiad as soon as i was done in Seyda Neen and when i'm in Pelagiad.
Caldera Cottage adds a small house in Caldera, right at the end of the path where the smith also is and the backdoor of Ghorak Manor. When using CoV it's then in front of the wailing wench. It's smaller then the Pelagiad one.
I used this house for one of my companions. It has 4 chests, a bed, a dresser, a table and a tiny closet on the wall. Actually only suited for one person.

http://www.calislahn.com/elder-scrolls/housing/
A favourite of mine. It adds a hlaalu styled house a little bit outside the walls of Balmora, at the foot of the hill where the temple is and in front of the Odai.
It comes with a fireplace, a bed, several chests, a desk, 2 sortkind of bookcases (you can also store other items on it), a cupboard and storage for ingredients plus ingredient sorter.
It's a small house and perfect for the first levels. I use this house in the first levels and also when i'm in Balmora. In the beginning it serves as a base and after the moving to ebonheart it serves more as a smuggler's house.
It probably serves at the end as the house of one of my companions. I think it would fit Constance to retire here.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1660
A large mansion in Ald'Ruhn. Actually it is placed in the Ashlands (it's behind the temple), but it's not far from the other houses in Ald'Ruhn. It's a redoran styled manor.
Inside you will find the main hall with 2 displaycases, a fireplace and 2 chests. there are doors leading to a seperate kitchen area, a seperate bedroom and study, a dining room, a conservatory and 2 displayrooms.
One of the best parts is the conservatory, which appears to be a little botanical garden. Lots and lots of storage in this manor. I use it when i'm in the neighbourhood of Ald'Ruhn and it serves also as a museum.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3271
A nice villa placed next to Ules manor, near Suran. It's a bit too bright inside and the path to and around the house are a bit small, but otherwise a nice house. Hlaalu style outside, but at the inside nothing is what it seems.
Medium sized and a good amount of storage. There is a little pool inside, but you can't swim in it. It's more like a footbath. There is a bedroom, a storage room and kitchen. Inside there is enough space to walk, different then the outside. The house reminds a bit to a gangster meeting place, fitting for the camonna tong. I use this house myself not that much, only when i'm in the neighbourhood of Suran.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6141
Large manor made by Denina. It's placed on an island, directly opposite the Ahemmusa Camp and south-west from Rotheran. It's also not far from a cave where a vampire dwells.
The house has several rooms, but some of them are empty, because the modder choosed to let you decorate it by your own. I'm not really a decorator, however i do decorate it with bathing stuff from the provincial bath shoppe. Other then that i don't use any craft thing or so. But the house is also good for those who don't decorate or don't decorate much, like myself. There is a bedroom, kitchen, study, plenty of storage, bookcases.
I use this house myself as a vampire lair, as soon when my character becomes a vampire. It's good for that. The house is not for from the clan i join, the aundae and a fellow vampire is my neighbour.
After the cure it serves more as a vampiric museum, reminding of the once dreadfull creature which had lived here.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=5692
Adds a small house into the water not far from the docks of Khuul. Accessible through an own path to it from the small path between the shack's of Brurid and Svadstar.
It's a bit narrow at some places inside and some may consider the vault as a cheat, as well as the sword. I find it myself not a problem that there is a vault with treasure and a enchanted sword inside.
There is pretty much storage in here. There is a bed and a living room and the mentioned vault. The only thing that bugs me is the name of the interior cells.
I use this house when i'm in Khuul. I was searching for a house in Khuul, because every time when i have done all the legion quests from darius and i continue to Ald'Ruhn i always have the issue that i have too much stuff with me, when i'm in the neighbourhood of Khuul (because i also visit ashalmawia and wonderland lost) And i always walk to Ald'ruhn when coming from Gnisis to do the next legion quests. (for roleplaying purposes).

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6832
An expansion of the Factor Estate, which you get at Raven Rock on Solstheim. It makes the estate a little bit bigger with more bedrooms and some more storage.
Not too big, just medium. A good improvement in my opinion.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=5730
The famous expansion for the House Telvanni stronghold Tel Uvirith, which you get when joining house telvanni and reached the rank of mouth. It turns the stronghold into a living telvanni town, completely with a siltstrider, houses of other factions, a tavern, a mining company and so on. Perfectly suited for the new Archmagister. It starts after you have finished the original stronghold quest.

Currently I'm using my own modified version of Spok's "Castle Hestatur". Though I normally just use Dongle's Ranger Tent. I didn't actually add Castle Hestatur to my game untill I was already head of both the fighter's guild and the mages guild, at which point I figured my character could afford to have his own estate! :P

My present character started out using Buyable Ghorak Manor, which is basically exactly what it says on the tin, it's a mod that lets you buy Ghorak Manor in Caldera, the original inhabitants have moved out (Although the one who is involved in Boethia's quest has been relocated so as not to break it.) it has also been refurnished, with a basemant section added, and while Creeper has not been removed, he has been relocated to a less conspicuous location, it does offer a fair amount of space for storing and displaying items, which is quite important to me, however I can't link to it right now as Elric Melnibone, the only website I've found it on, does not appear to be working.

Presently, my character has instead mostly turned to using the http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3317, there's a small quest to aquire the house that will require a higher level character to get it, it will also explain what it is, it's a pretty unique house, as the screenshots indicate, and has a decent amount of space in it, and also has a control panel which allows you to move it to a number of locations in the game, I currently have it floating above Vivec, as that's a more convenient location than Sadrith Mora, where it appears at the start. It would probablu suit battle mages the best, and is not really a house for those who specifically seek somehing mundane, for reasons that should be obvious.

I'm using a cozy two-room cave of Danae's, from the mod, Feyiin's Troubles. Soon as her Pegasus Estate is done, my character will be decamping to there. :)

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2064 is perhaps my very favorite house mod. Large, although not enough to get lost in, lots of display room, and an incredible sense of atmosphere; beautiful and solitary all at once.

I hope this doesn't sound too pretentious of me, but if you don't mind...
How about my mod?
Presenting... "Wizard's Rest".

A fully functional, cozy little home in the Telvanni style, located in Sadrith Mora, just north of the Council House.
It has all the amenities, including an alchemy sorter, an alchemy desorter, and full "Necessities of Morrowind" compatibility.
It even has an addon for a teleport item to instantly take you home from anywhere!
(And said addon is optional, for those who think instant home teleportation is uber!)
It has plenty of storage, but little in the way of decorative clutter. (So you can provide that yourself.)
It costs 1,000 septims to purchase, but you don't have to be in House Telvanni to do so.
It is fully featured, yet comfortable, with dim, relaxing lighting.

It can be found here:
