What interesting ways did you find to RP?

Post » Tue Feb 04, 2014 1:34 am

So, I'm not asking if you made a Dremora who's somehow sympathetic to mortals in Nirn, what I mean is what ingame designs or tools did you find help you RP?

For me, I found Anvil's home to be very useful as a home for my former master thief. He owns the home in Chorrol (was going for Skingrad, but the Steward orc went missing so I had to make due) as his 'front' home, but in the chamber where Lorgren one was entombed, he stores his hidden cache of treasures and the Cowl of Nocturnal there, awaiting the day their heir finds the treasures. It's also where he 'buried his past' when he donned the whites and became a Knight of the Nine.

Anyway, what useful tricks/ideas did you find naturally? (Mods don't count)

My old Altmer Barbarian, an eccentric character, needed an equally eccentric home so I used the bandit mine right outside Chorral. Every few days I'd have to clear it out again - this was his 'training regime'.

Also I've had a number of characters (including the above) with a habit of getting drunk and starting brawls. Basically I'd slam down a load of booze and punch the first NPC to badmouth me. I'd keep fighting barefist until the guards showed up, then spend the night in the castle drunk tank.

Oh man, I could chat your ears off on this topic. There's literally too many things to add so I'll just concentrate on my newest character: Snaat Rayag.

Snaaty has managed to become friendly with all the bandits and marauders around the Niben bay area, and although I used the console to make this happen, there's still some RP involved. I get the sense that he's friendly with all of them because he's been an outlaw for awhile, and he trades skooma for gold. He's a skooma dealer basically, or he was.

There's a feeling I've never had before when I'm with "Snaaty". If he's outdoors and gets attacked by a creature or a guard, all he needs to do is run to the nearest bandit or marauder lair, campsite, or fort. With several NPCs now at his defense, Snaat Rayag's roleplay feels rather golden. Special. I've never RPed anybody like this before.

Like Renee I could go on here I guess.. :P

But I′ll settle for this: Every winter Lothran goes to live in Bruma and since the countess made him honorary guard, every now and then he puts on a full set of guard armour and goes patrolling the town and during the night he helps guarding the north gate.

During this time he never leaves the Jeralls and can spend many days just wandering around in the snowy mountains and there are plenty of action to be found in the mines and caves ;)

Buffy spends most of her nights on the road / in the wilderness, but when in town, she stays at the halls of her Guild of Mages. This is where her 'nesting' instincts come out, for she has done a fair amount of redecorating within the guild halls. Most noticeable are the alchemy counters in each hall; each sports a full set of master alchemy gear for example, along with some exotic ingredients for display and appropriate texts that can assist the budding alchemist or mage.

The MG is also where she generally trades. In fact, she is one of the guild's primary sources for fully filled greater and grand soul gems (not work for the timid), as well as such dangerous-to-acquire and rare ingredients as daedra silk and void salts. She also sells scrolls there that she comes by in her travels. So. . . if you've ever wondered how those parchment palace types that run the guilds' alchemy counters obtain some of their more exotic stock, well, now you know!

She has donated many artifacts that now decorate the University's Mystic Archives. These range from Daedric trinketry to amber/madness matrices (beautiful to display) to even a sigil stone or two.

I try, as always in ES, to play a DnD style mage. No armour at all. Robes, staves, daggers etc. Mods help. Supreme Magika and Midas in particular.

Current character is Xeonthalas, a dunmer noble (youngest son) farmed out by his patron to Cyrodiil and the Mages Guild. His brief is to settle himself in the higher echelons of the Guild in order to better his family's position in Vvardenfell. He has a penchant for collecting all arcane objects and sundries and since his youth been obsessed by Alyleid culture and study. Still young, by Dunmeri standards, Xeon has just been admitted into the Arcane University where he is scouring the libraries for information on Ayleid civilisation. All this thing about the Emperor's murder doesnt bother him at all. Let the humans deal with that he has things to learn...
