I've been playing hybrid fighter/mages in my recent games. The major/minor skills usually include a melee weapon, heavy armor, marksman, alchemy, and two or three other magic skills such as restoration, alteration, illusion or enchant. I seldom play the main quest line these days and just wander around to see how any particular combo works out.
A useful set of C.E. enchanted items has me stumped though. The first C.E. enchanted item I always make is a set of pants or shirt with night vision and water breathing. I choose those spell effects because in RL it helps me see what's in those pesky dark places. After that, I kind of hit a blank spot when thinking about what other C.E. enchantments would be useful. I do make other C.E. items, but the choice pretty much depends upon my char but even then it doesn't seem like there's much need for variety or depth (number of such items). I'm ignoring that my char may want a change of clothing
My current char lvl 30 Nord has C.E. enchanted items for invisibility and levitation inspired by the windwalker scroll. I have more filled grand soul gems if I want to use them for C.E. effects, but there doesn't seem to me to be much point to them. I've thought about fortify attribute C.E. spells, but those spells seem most useful when you are in an actual fight, in which case potions work out much better - higher magnitudes than you can C. E. enchant on an item and the duration is long enough for battles.
I haven't tried enchanting items with the detect spells very often, probably because I keep forgetting that I have them to use Nor have I experimented with the light spell, either, but probably because it seems silly to cast a spell that in theory would make it easy for hostiles to see and attack you. OTOH, it might be fun if you could enchant an item or piece of furniture with a C.E. light spell.
Do you all run into the same situation enchanting items with constant effects - that there seem to be only a handful of useful C.E. spell effects to make/use?
As you can see, I run out of ideas after making the combo night eye/water breathing item. That seems to be the only thing that I definitely need to have to make the game playable and enjoyable for me. The times I've made levitation and invisibility C.E. items were more to make traveling overland easier (avoid cliff racer attacks) or to conduct extended aerial attacks on daedra
