What to jump off of?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 1:08 am

I've got my Acrobatics up to 74 now, and I'm looking for something I can jump from and get back to easily, to push that score on up to 100.

There are steep mountains north of Bruma, but maybe there's something better?

And what's the highest thing you can jump from AND survive in the game?

If you are looking for the fastest spam point, my son uses the doorway to Gweden Farm, standing on the outside. On all his characters. :stare: Sigh.

Well, I suppose it doesn't matter how high you jump, if I've read correctly. I was under the impression that the higher your jump--the more damage you took--the larger the bump in your Acrobatics. But, apparently, it's all the same. Any jump causing damage increases Acrobatics by the exact same amount.

Still, I wanna do more base jumping sans parachute.

What seems to matter, is hitting your head when jumping. Or jumping all over the place. Or, yes, falling great distances. There was a youtube video several years ago, where some guy drank 10 bottles of skooma and base jumped off of Dive Rock and landed in the Lake Rumare. I'd google it.

Right. Yesterday, I read about jumping under low clearances, that you bounce back to earth almost instantly. You can train Acrobatics up as fast as you press the jump key. I tried it under the little dock where you first come out of the Imperial Sewers at the beginning of the game. It works, but I sure felt silly (and bored) doing it. I'll not worry about it any longer. There's always trainers, and no shortage of gold to pay them with.

I wanna see the Dive Rock video....

Here is one dive rock basejump video. I don't know if it's the same one mentioned above, but it's still quite impressive, how far he falls. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIk80ht4Y54

Jumping under low clearances might be the quickest way. I used to jump up and down the hill just northeast of Anvil, spamming my jump button as I went.

Although this video seems to be the more plausible one since the person actually uses skooma, but that lake isn't Lake Rumare.

Here's a video of a player http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBY6mlvB9B4, although they're not using skooma to do it. It starts at about half way through the length of the video and the player shows enchantment spells that in no way you could get in the regular game. Once the player in the video jumps off of Dive Rock, it becomes a slide show...

Lothran enjoy jumping all over the place so his Acro got maxed fast. He can now jump off Dive Rock straight down and survive quite easily. Although his knees are a little tender a few days after

I once spent an hour or whatever jumping up and down- and finding tall rocks tall enough to increase acrobatics but small enough to be able to climb quick...and I just stopped doing that. It was silly, really.

I used to let the crabs have at me, and I still allow bandits to take a few extra swings- that's in the play of the actual game. But I don't spend my life hopping up and down anymore. Find a trainer-there's the famous one Aerins Camp? where the nord will train you. Kill some bandits, make some money, buy some training- that's capitalism!!

I will admit to doing the bunny hop all over Cyrodil, though.

Even more silly what I did. I spent an hour a few years back selling arrows one by one to raise my character′s Mercantile skill. Thousands of arrows! I′m still haunted by all that extensive clicking...
To make matters worse, to really make myself look dumb, I used the console to lower his Merc skill later on, making that hour totally wasted!

This is something I cannot stop myself from doing either. It is not about raising the skill. I just like doing it. I am an old time gamer, and still remember when being able to jump in a game was something we all dreamed of being able to do someday. Like being able to look up or look down. So once true 3d games began coming out where you could, I was hooked. In Oblivion, I love to jump along fence tops, or jumping from one rock to another, to see how far I can get without touching the ground.

One of the habits that Wild Elf got into was climbing and jumping all over the forts. Most of them, if you work at it, can be scaled to the top of the wall. The trick was to try to find a way to completely circumnavigate the fort on top of the wall. It's amazing how wide a gap you can leap across. (Oh, to be able to do half the things, in real life, that we can do in games or in dreams...)

Oh, I love climbing the broken walls on the old forts. Or jumping from one broken spire in the Ayleid Ruins to another. New Sheoth is a fun place to jump from rooftop to rooftop. It is funny how much joy I derive from the simplest of things in this game, that most people ignore.

BTW. you could do the Dive Rock jump, just drink five bottles of skooma Jack Daniels beforehand. It won't help with the jump, but you won't feel anything when you land...

It would take that to get me to do that jump in the first place, but then I'd probably just fall on my face on the rock...

Hmmm... Dive Rock Bungee Jumping...

I jumped off of Dive Rock several years ago and turned up deader than a Biology class frog in a just a quick flash.

To advance my skills early on, I go to the Grey Mare and go upstairs and jump onto the ledge over the stairs. Then auto run, jump, and cast some cheap spell (detect life, starlight, etc). Oh yeah, and do it while in Stealth mode.

My standard location for grinding Acrobatics is the East end of Skingrad, where I just jump off the bridge inside the gate, and run back up the ramp next to where I land. Usually get a level or two of Athletics with all the running in circles, too, plus a few in Restoration, as damage is a required part of the process.

I love jumping in Oblivion too, think my acro is 89. Highest I've had on any character.
My main habit though was jumping on roof tops. I love jumping on the ones at the Water Front.
There is a jumping glitch too, I'm sure you all know, when you touch the first step of some stairs then press jump whilst going forward you get a boosted jump.
Also always jumped on Brumas rooftops just couldn't leave without doing it.

The fences that line parts of the road from the Brina Cross Inn to Anvil are fun to try to jump from post to post.
