What key choices should I make to ensure a positive Yes Man

Post » Mon Oct 03, 2011 7:21 am

After everything I've been through in the Mojave, I've come to realize that everyone - NCR, Legion, and House - are all to incompetent to be able to run New Vegas to the largest amount of the population. I've never picked the Yes Man ending, because I can't find a way to justify anarchy. Are there any choices I can make with Yes Man that can ensure a good ending for the majority of the Mojave?

There is no positive Yes Man ending; it's anarchy.

You can help everyone. As in, you can make everyone happy. Yes Man's ending can be one of the most "good" (as in slides show everyone and everything surviving and satisfied with the situation), but many question if it's the BEST ending simply because....well it's anarchy. Who knows how long that happiness will remain?

However, it might not be wise to make the Brotherhood of Steel happy, considering their goals and ideals. You might want to opt to kill them of your own free will.

Why? Cause they may take away people's energy weapons? They do the same thing in the NCR ending.

So, are you saying I will be able to kill off the Legion and Brotherhood of Steel and make everyone else happy? What about my relations with the NCR? I like the NCR, but I just don't think they are at a point to be able to lead New Vegas. My character is currently idolized by the NCR. What effect will that have on the end of the game if I side with Yes Man?

None. You have to go to war with them to "liberate" NV which includes killing General Oliver, Col. Moore and maybe President Kimball if you choose to do so.

Lol! NCR route it is then. I wouldn't kill Col. Moore, period.

With Yes Man himself? No. He only lives to do as you tell him to, up until arguably after the end of the game (I won't spoil it for you).

The best you can do is work with the individuals and groups all over the Mojave to make sure that each of them can live the best they can on their own:

Complete the game with good karma - it will dictate The Courier's general behavior after New Vegas is independent.
Take care of things with Tabitha on Black Mountain
Give Raul some direction (complete his quest)
Become idolized by the Boomers and fix their plane
Ensure Elder McNamara remains head of the BoS, and have them sign a treaty with the NCR
Kill the entire Fiend leadership
Ask the Followers of the Apocalypse for their support
Meet Arcade's friends and ask them to support the NCR
Kill the Powder Gangers in Goodsprings
Help Cass out by gaining evidence of those that have wronged her
Convince Papa Khan to just leave the Legion and to build a legacy for the Khans
Help the doctor with his experiments in Jacobstown
Convince Lillie to take the full dose of her medication
Broker a peace between the Kings and the NCR
Find Rex a new brain
Get the Misfits to cooperate with each other at Camp Golf
Help the Bright Followers west of Novac GO TO SPACE!
Help Boone let go of the past
Blow away the Powder Gangers at the correctional facility
Convince the Powder Gangers at Vault 19 to surrender
Get Primm a new Sheriff
Get ED-E upgraded by the Followers of the Apocalypse
Let Chief Hanlon at Camp Golf continue to do his thing at Camp Golf for the Rangers

Note that some of the choices above are my subjective opinion on the "best" ending for them, in terms of what's good in the most altruistic sense for the citizens of the Mojave should you try to win their independence for them.

Uh, no. You can work for Yes Man and not touch any of the NCR officers Horhey mentioned. Although, it will take a high Speech check (85 or 100) to avoid fighting General Oliver, but it can be done. And you don't even see Col. Moore at all should you go the Yes Man route.

The Independant route is a lot of fun. Maybe the most fun of them all. It's a 3 way war so your fighting NCR and the Legion while they are fighting you and each other at the same time. And fighting Veteran Rangers is always exciting. If you're a level 50 then they got beefed along with the BoS and the Legion.

Oh well, it's been a long time since I play through it but I do remember killing Col Moore, probobly cause I chose to. Killing the President is optional.

If you have a good reputation with the NCR they won't attack you during the Battle of Hoover Dam. In fact, they'll think you're there to fight for them.

Huh? I was idolized by them untill I completed some of the Yes Man quests and then I became their enemy. I completed all the NCR quests except Eureka and at the last minute I went independant and they started attacking me even though I didnt attack any of them. They drew first blood.

That's weird. They didn't touch me. I did all the NCR quests right up until I was warned that I would be villified by the Legion if I continued to work for them (I think it was when they told me to go check out the Omertas), then I stopped. I also snuck into the sub-station where I was supposed to install the Platinum chip without being seen.

Did they change something in a patch I never got around to installing? Because I turned off the auto-patch function in Steam.

So what was your reputation when you actually went to Hoover Dam? Idolized or Wild Child? Mine was still Idolized because I didn't touch anybody - they never attacked me in the first place.

Yep. I remember that. So I stopped working for the Legion and House. Nothing I did for Yes Man had the NCR declare jihad on me, though. They must've patched that or something.

If that turns out to be the case, then when I get around to installing these last few DLC I haven't bought yet and patching the game, it's going to be one hell of a second trip to Hoover Dam. Which frankly I will welcome because the first time I went there was more like "Sit back and watch the NCR/Enclave/Boomers/HouseBots kick the Legion's ass and prance along behind them".

Might be a bug. There have been times when the NCR has become hostile with me for no reason so I have to reload it. The BoS did the same thing one time. I entered the bunker with a "liked" rep and I was greeted with laser fire.
