Oh god Gaenor make it look like Bosmers were meant to wear heavy armor and never get hit

Try a mod called Bosmer Armor Pack. This is a must have mod for me and for anyone playing bosmers. You get 3 sets of Light Armor (with stats similar to elven, glass and dragonscale) and two sets of heavy armor (stats similar to advanced armor and dragonbone).

You also get bows and one handed weapons as well as arrows that fit your character nicely. The mod is deeply integrated in the world. All items are presented in leveled lists (except for the strongest light armor and heavy armor set that can only be obtained after killing an level 80 enemy). Some bosmers throughout skyrim use these sets as well

Oops. Just noticed the "heavy" armor bit.

I'd go with Orcish. According to Morrowind lore the Orcs adapted their armor making skills from old Aldmeri ones but perfected them better. So Orcish is technically a more skilled heavy version of Elven.

Bosmer Amor Pack is fantastic, pretty much what I thought of when I saw this post. Dawnguard and Ebony Armor looks good on a Bosmer if you're playing on console. Thieve's Guild Armor suites a Bosmer as well, but that's Light.

Dawnguard looks good on any race as it's one if the best looking armors in the series that doesn't suffer at the hands of being low rating. Both the versions of Dawnguard are mustard.

Ebony is like the uprated version of steelplate armor. Steelplate is a good looking armor.

For elves I prefer more alien looking armor.
