What kind of Job do you have?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:20 am

If it counts, I am currently a conscript in the Finnish Defense Forces, my service ending July 8th. I am a tank gunner in CV9030 infantry fighting vehicle, my task being infantry support with the tank's 30mm autocannon and extremely accurate, and advanced fire control system (which would let me hit a guy's left eye from a mile away). I am quite passionate in what I do, and frequently volunteer in army PR missions and military parades.

CV9030 is awesome. Those things are scary as hell, I would think twice before engaging one. My job in FDF was to engage enemy in guerrilla warfare and fighting against such machines.

I work two jobs. My 'first' job is cooking. I'm a chef in an Italian restaurant. Not Olive Garden, real Italian.

Me 'second' job is also cooking. I teach people to cook at the local neighborhood center.

Meh, it puts food on the table.

Aspiring author, hit a bit of a road bump in productivity recently. Waiting for a genetic test to see if everything is going to be alright.

Now that's a road bump...ouch! Hope things turn out all right for you, from one writer to another. :)

As for me--been unemployed for the past six months, so my job is applying to jobs. I'd really like something in copy-editing or publishing, but I'm starting to think that's not going to happen. :nope: At this point something to pay the bills would be nice.

Don't really have an official job title as such, but basically I'm a freelance Radio Presenter. At the start of my career though so paid work is pretty thin on the ground, lots of volunteering to get experience, but I'm enjoying it and things are looking pretty good for the future.

Not unless you count peacekeeping as deployment.. Conscription is just the way we keep ourselves out of trouble - if you want peace, prepare for war as the saying goes. Or at least that's the official story, I don't know if maintaining a considerable military force is the right thing to do in reality. But the thing is that in case of war I among hundreds of thousands of other Finns would make up one of the most powerful armies in modern Europe, numbering several hundred thousand, which is a big number for a country the size of Finland.

As a big fan of Andrew WK's older work, your avatar is awesome.

Sold your soul :shakehead:
Well I know there's the whole stereotype that they don't know anything about computers, and it's true in most stores. For some reason, my store's full of the laid-back guys who are certified in a lot of things but just know a lot of stuff on their own. So I basically got the job 'cause they're all my friends, I worked with the store for a year prior, and it included a raise. Plus, I figured it would put my foot in the door for more IT work down the road. Most of it is just diagnosing that yes, the customer does in fact have System Tool.

I have a friend who calls it slaveway :hehe:

I refuse to give up my hope to the corporate black hole. Incidentally most of my job is accounting.
And customer service.

California Caregiver

If that's what I think it is....I could cope with that :P.
I'm an unemployed student, searching for a part time job. I occasionally do crappy below minimum wage work at my dad's warehouse, but I get the feeling I'm not cut out for manual labour.

I am still a student. I currently have no means to get to and fro a job, but when I can procure said ride (whether it be I or someone else) I will more likely than not work at a deli (there are like 3 delis in my area that are always hiring).

I'm a software developer that works on energy related software. Our company just got bought out by a holding company to make a group that's twice as big as our company is now.

Insurance. 9-5, Monday to Friday, suit and tie, fairly generic office job. It's not bad, I'm kept fairly busy and the work and people are ok. The company treats it's staff very well and my boss is pretty lenient if I need time off/come in late, etc.
