What kind of ruins will Skyrim contain?

Post » Mon Aug 31, 2009 7:32 pm

So i guess the title says all, what kinda ruins are we gonna see in Skyrim? i personally think there will be Falmer ruins. For those who dont know, the Falmer were the previous inhabitants of Skyrim, before the Nords came.

Considering it's Skyrim, I'd say Falmer and maybe a scant few Ayleid, though they were called Heartland Elves for a reason.

Also Skllan Falmer are the Snow Elves.

Falmer or Alyeid although I don't know if the Alyeids retreated north after Alessia did her Magic. There also could be ruins based on past Nordic Mythology like a ruins about Ysmir.

Falmer would make the most sense based on what the OP said and the fact that the last two TES games have used ruins of the extinct inhabitants of the region they're set in.

From what I recall of lore, Falmer left no ruins...

Could be wrong, but that's the bell going off in my head atm.

Falmer is the most logical choice for the setting..not sure if they left ruins or not though.

I really miss the Dwemer ruins from morrowind. Those were the coolest looking dungeons to explore.

Falmer, maybe. Hopefully we'll be able to experience the Labyrinthian again. The Fortress of Ice where Shalidor dwelt, and maybe a few Dwemer ruins from the Rourken clan.

The first one is an almost certainty. The Labyrinthian....They don't really have an excuse to not include it. The Fortress of Ice has a good chance of not being there. And Dwemer ruins are almost nill. But it would all be cool.

It is said in a number of things that the Falmer actually left no trace at all what so ever.

There should be a lot of nord ruins. The pocket guide said they originally established cities in highly defensible areas, then moved to the greener valleys once they'd established a country. There should be some ghost towns up in the mountains.

I'm thinking (hoping) that we'll see some few keeps and forts, hopefully a few ayleid ones on the border, some caves. Hopefully the Labyrinthian will be there. I want to see a lot more unique dungeons though.

I doubt they did lest the Nords eat them.

YES. I'd love to revisit some of the old Arena landmarks.

Falmer, as well as several thousand years worth of human habitation. I expect to see both ancient Atmoran settlements, later Imperial forts, and relatively modern abandoned settlements. Theres also the possibility of Giant ruins, I guess.

Dwemer and Ayleid on both the southern and eastern areas would be cool.
If there were any, it would probably not be a lot.

Based on lore, neither Dwemer nor Ayleids were really fleshed out or understood until Morrowind and Oblivion, respectively.

Remember those Borrows in Bloodmoon? I loved those places, but they were terribly short. I also think that Torches should be more important... much more shadows and darkness in caves.

This is an incredible point, when morrowind came out we didnt know much about Ayleid at all.
I'm actually quite sure this is how it is going to work with this game, were going to learn a lot about the Falmer.
