What kind of things would you do if you were in charge of an

So I dunno about you guys/girls, but I love the Elder Scrolls series.
I am also a gamer and a big fan of tabletop gaming.

So when I found out that there was a elder scrolls setting for this savage worlds system that some other player had set up, I just had to read through it.
After reading through the book, I found that it had enough information and blended enough of the different games through the elder scroll series that I thought it was a very coherent glimpse of the elder scrolls world. This is a fan creation, so I hope that the makers of the elder scrolls, Bethesda, doesn't have a problem with me running a tabletop game using their world.

But I had a couple of questions about lore that I wanted to ask of people who might know more than me at the moment. I am currently running a game for a group of adventurers who are not really that much more different than your average hero because none of the more particularly special. No one is a prophesied one, no one is a dragon born. However, all of them started off as prisoners of the Thalmor.

The timeline is roughly one year before the return of Alduin, and the destruction of Helgen. They were picked up a la secret police kidnapping and taken to interrogation center in the Nibnay bay area of Cyrodiil. In true elder scrolls fashion the prisoners managed to escape the Thalmor captors through a nearby caved in dungeon.

The group consists of one imperial commander (essentially a noble), a Kajit heavy warrior, a Breton spell sword, a nord college mage, an Argonian shadow scale, and a Dunmer restoration spell blade.

Now, the overall plot is that the Thalmor are trying to destroy the heartstones of the Towers throughout the world so that they may destroy everything and return to oblivion.

Does this sound like a good overall plot?
I'm also looking for advice for subplots. I plan on having the party travel through each of the different regions of the world starting with Cyrodiil. I kinda want them to be dragged into/Leap head first into the events of the world and have this whirlwind tour through iconic places and locales in Lore and more importantly, kick a lot of ass in them and have a good time as players.

I'm currently using of the map from the video game but I've had to improvise for much of the region of locale. I've also had to change the scale of inches to miles so that way the world is a lot bigger than the 14 mile area it seems to be in the video game.

Does anybody have any advice, suggestions, or neat ideas?
I'd really appreciate any kind of help I can get so that I can make this the best game that I've ever run, because I really do enjoy this game series and want to be able to share the fun that I've had with some of my other gamers.
I've been trying really hard to keep to the theme and feel of the older scrolls series, so any help that can be given about this so that I can do it well would be of a really appreciated.

change that to "the overall plot is that the Thalmor are trying to destroy the Stones of the Towers throughout the world so that they may unmake Mundus and return to the Interplay of Pre-Dawn Aurbis."

or do they want to go back further, before the mock void of Oblivion and return to Stasis? someone else will know. that's my 2 cents.
