What kind of tone do you want Skyrim to have?

Feel free to suggest any other options below so I may add them to the poll.

Gritty and harsh really fit the bill for Skyrim, but even saying that, there's times when you have to change the pace.

I want it to be super awesome, like "YOURE ABOUT TO GET YOUR HEAD EXPLODED BUT YOU GET SAVED AND YOURE THE DOVAHKIIN HAVE THIS SWORD AND GO FIGHT THIS DRAGONS!!" *explosions and guitar riffs everywhere as you cut off dragons tails and beat them to death with it*

But hey, one can only hope.

For Skyrim, it is gritty. Really, can't imagine this province with a different tone.

An apocalyptic "Oh [censored] thar be dragons" feel.

However, I would like it switch to something nicer after the MQ, unlike Oblivion.

That's an interesting question. And not so easy to answer... I voted for "Other";

I'd like the tone to vary somewhat, to better encompass the Nordic theme, the inherent quirkiness of The Elder Scrolls, and a broader, frosty sword & sorcery fantasy atmosphere alike. If the [physical] conflicts are gritty yet heroic, the stories emotional, the NPCs quirky yet believable, and the world itself a wild and boundless winter fantasyscape flavoured with whimsical fairytale elements, I'll declare Skyrim's tone to be perfect.

Can I vote Erotic and Whimsical, with just a Hint of Showtunes?

I would like a serious and dire tone, with the occasional injection of humor and frivolity.

I'd like a mixture of the three.

I want it to be quirky and charming when I play it as such, gritty when I want it to be.

I'm all for gritty...Skyrim is the birthplace of man, and it's where the real men live.

Seeing the trailer, it makes oblivion look exceedingly fanciful and colorful. I'm looking forward to hacking my way slowly but surely through hordes of draugr and the undead and fighting a fearsome dragon to the death...this game should be utterly brutal

Maybe interspaces a few jokes and funny bits but not too over-the-top unless there's a perk like Wild Wasteland from FO: NV

You must chose one that you'd like Skyrim to focus on.

Emotional.
I want it to be like how i felt playing other TES games.

You know a game is done right if you get chills the first time you play it that are from the pure excitement, awe, and vast mix of different emotions.
You know a game is amazing if you get that feeling every time you read a different line of dialogue.

I want a dark, harsh, gritty, visceral gruesome world that chills my soul.

Dark. Love dark fantasy, despite it being overplayed, and norse mythology isn't exactly rainbows and ice cream. However, while I expect elements of it to be dark, I suspect it will be somewhat gritty with elements of humour.
