Unit Alpha, you really are dedicated. Thank you, I guess. You'll do this every time something is added?

  • The interface article said there was a flamethrower spell.
  • There is a total of 85 spells in Skyrim. That means there's an average of 17 spells split among the 5 schools of magic.

85?! I really hope they meant effects, Oblivion had 200+ spells, most of them were effects with different stats. I still want this great variation in spells, not only the common fireball with pre-determined damage. I want "Flare - Fire Effect - Ranged - 10 dmg".

Oh oh oh, I LOVE what is confirmed so far! Sounds like Bethesda is doing one awesome job on Skyrim!

I take it GI hasn't given any mention whether the beast races will actually be beastly or have human feet (I haven't seen any screenshots yet) and whether there will be mounted combat or not (seeing as horses are confirmed so I take it that means horse mounts are back)?

There is a total of 85 spells in Skyrim. 17 spells per school of magic.

17 spells with different effects or 17 spells in general? If it's the case of Oblivion where there were only 4-5 different effects per school and 5 spells of varying potency for each one, that doesn't really say anything.

Same. I really hope I'm wrong and that the magazine did in fact mean effects.

I suppose we can change the 85 spells in that list to something like, "85 spells (effects or total spells, not sure)."

I'm guessing 85 effects, not spells, or at least I hope so.

I'm glad you are with me. But, I was thinking that if the "enchanting" skill is back, it wouldn't be just add a fire effect with pre-determined stats, it must be much more complex than Oblivion's to deserve to be a skill. So spells should be more complex too... Heck, if they take out the magnitude, range and area from spells playing a mage wouldn't be fun. One of the funniest things about spells in Oblivion was being able to create wacky spells with crazy stats.

Yeah, it does seem 85 is too big a number. At least I hope Levitation is back. Sadly, with exclusive articles there is always a grand portion of not exact info.

Oblivion had 81 spell effects, and countless variations of those. Though most were things like "Drain (Health, Stamina, Magicka)" leaving about 40-50 trully unique effects.

Could you change 'zombies' to 'draugr' in the write-up. The GI article is specific, and the use of 'draugr' creates a nice connection to Bloodmoon instead of a generic undead usage.

In the magazine, does it say anywhere that you tag three skills in the beginning of the game, similar to Fallout 3/New Vegas?

Hey guys, you might as well add body features, judging by the screenshots I can see tough guys and skinny dudes, also it's mentioned on a screenshot in the Weapon of Choice section. Also, it seems like we can have beards, an NPC on the tavern screenshot with that chick has a nice beard. :)

No, it says you don't get to pick your skills at the beginning.
@Silvade, I'll add them.
