Not sure about the level, but you'll want maxed out Guns and Sneak, and an anti-material rifle.

I save thag for one of the last things I did. It was not nearly as hard as I thought. I d say have at least 80 in guns, a scoped .308 rifle or a .50. Bring at least 75-100 ap .308 rounds. I never used that .50 so I can t tell you about that.

As a back up have a mini gun with at least 500ap rounds or a LMG with the same amount of ammo. Just in case they are on to you.

On my latest play through I hit the quarry at level 14 with Boone who had a fully modded CB repeater, and Ed-E. I used RatSlayer to call each DC over individually and then switched to a hunting shotty with 'Shotgun Surgeon' and 'Stay Back' when they came in close. Was pretty easy.

'Stay Back' helps a lot, because it decks them and gives you a few extra cheap shots to pop while they're out cold. V useful against SM's and DC's early level.

I was simply a walking juggernaut at level 15. With my Hunting Shotgun+ and And Stay Back! and Shotgun Surgeon Perks. I only got hit 3 times during my whole time there and that was when I was reloading.
The other time I was level 28 on my other character (now lvl 35) and I brought a Gobi and got hit a couple of times. Had to use 5 Stimpaks, maybe more (it was a while ago).

If you have the Wild Wasteland perk, i would advise getting the alien blaster for emergencies (like being overwhelmed by deathclaws, for example)

I did it at level 12, with a CZ57 Avenger with AP rounds, and a Missile Launcher. The bastards are pretty easy to kill. Burned through about 450 AP rounds for my minigun, and 5 missles for my rocket launcher. I got Lord Death there too, which helped.

Level doesn't mean a thing so long as you have about 3 stealth boys and incidiary rounds for the AMR.

Quarry Junction can be done with 75 Guns and 80+ Sneak if you're careful enough.

If you have AMR, you can often one-shot Deathclaws. On Normal difficulty you can headshot them with Tral Carbine+ Cowboy perk + handloads, although a silenced Sniper Rifle with AP ammo is safer (might have to shoot more than once).

For close-in work I'd recommend shotguns- either Riot or Dinner Bell or fully modded Hunting Shotgun- with Shotgun Surgeon. (Can't say much about And Stay Back since I don't have Dead Money but it does make sense from the description). This Machine with AP ammo With the crazy AP bonus of 5mm ammo after the new patch, Assault Carbine is very Deathclaw-viable.

This. It's about your gear/approach, not your level...just like everything else in the game. Altho generally I wouldn't recommend trying before level 15, if you're fairly new to the game.

Depends on your specialization. I like melee so I went in with a Ballistic Fist and Oh Baby at level 20. Needed several stimpaks.

No one's mentioned this - maybe its kind of cheap - but you can do hit and run attacks. Attack a deathclaw and then run up one of the mining conveyor belts. The deathclaw will not be able to follow you and you can pop back out again when you have breathing room. Good if you get bum-rushed by more than one at a time.

Don't use AP rounds for sneak attacks. Sneak criticals ignore DT, so the AP is useless. Standards rounds do more damage. Once you've alerted them, though, AP rounds come in very handy.

Level hugely matters .Low level usually low hp and meh gun skills so you can't truly take advantage of the gun your using and the more levels the more perks which help alot aswell peeps are to easy to presume something then think it's fact (rant in standby mode) .

Nonsense.
You can beat deathclaws easily with laser rifle, either modded with focus optics or not, but with max charge MFC. Level 15.
Of course using sneak to deal the first heavy blow is always the key.

As soon as you get RCW+ you can mow down anything in the game, Laser Commander and Set Lasers On ___(Fun?) helps a lot though.

Dont listen to the others, I killed em at around level 17 with Boone with an Assault Carbine and a Special Rocket launcher named "Annabelle" Use the Assault carbine with Boone for the normal deathclaws and the Deathclaw alpha male (OR a Multiplas rifle) and for the Mother Deathclaw bring out Annabelle. Best combo.

Those perks and such make a difference in terms of average speed of kill, sure. No one (I think) is going to argue that.
But you can kill them even at low chr level if you have the right approach & gear...which was the actual point. Not whether you can do max gun dmg. and/or 1-shot the entire group while starting from 10 feet away. Or whatever. :)

Either a modded laser rifle, or This Machine and a Sniper Rifle. All I've ever needed there.

This Machine, or a Scoped Hunting Rifle with AP, if you're feeling ballsy.

My best deathclaw killer was my melee master black guy. Using Oh, Baby! and the Super Slam! perk, I knocked all the deathclaws down, then ran up and chainsaw'd their limbs until they seperated from their body. Easy Peezy.

level 18- gauss rifle with overcharged mfc.
annabelle for mid range encounter and rex/boone for the close-up work.

there again sneak is key here.
if you've got about +9 agility, you can safely strafe some of their attacks as well.
