what level of support can we expect?

It's no secret that both Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas are horrible on the PS3, and while it's somewhat understandable since they probably weren't too planned it has been somewhat surprising to see them not getting fixed. When Dragon Age origins started freezing randomly and ruining peoples save games because of a Sony update for the PS3 it got fixed, sure it took a month but it still got fixed.

The Fallout games on the other hand have plenty of freezes and randomly ruined save games, and eventhough it's been several years for the first game it's yet to receive fixes that actually solve the problems.

So I'm wondering what kind of support to expect for Brink, I mean, I'm honestly not going to buy it if it's going to be another "fire and forget" game by bethesda, but with it having heavy online components (unlike the Fallout games) I assume the story might be different this time?

Remember its not Bethesda's fault, Sony just doesn't support their console like Microsoft. Have you noticed how Xbox versions of games tend to get patched first? It's how Sony and Microsoft support their consoles. (It may also be the fact PS3 is harder to develop for).

Yeah blame the companies that produce the software and not the company that creates your hardware. It's Sony's job to make sure the quality of the games on their consoles are up to snuff. Microsoft supports its user better. And also it's not bethesda it's Splash Damage and they are taking special care to take care of things for the PS3. And apparently they are having to take extra time to work out things FOR the PS3. So maybe it's not the software companies. It's probably the hardware in question. Xbox users have to pay for support. And PC users tend to take care of themselves. PS3 users tend to want something for nothing.

I would argue that it's the game makers/publishers job to make sure that their game works on a system that they are trying to make money off of. It's not sony's or microsoft's job to work out the bugs in a game unless they had a hand in making/publishing the game. The studio and publisher should make every effort to fix all bugs pre-release or, failing that, patch the bugs quickly and effectively. Sadly this is not always the case and we get games like the Fallout series; amazing games, but haunted by major bug problems.

This thread has turned more in to a debate over platforms than a constructive discussion on the PS3. Platform wars only cause problems, it's not that you can't discuss the various platforms and their strengths and weaknesses but this is an area where you really need to tread carefully.

I don't know what platform(s) the playable demos have been on but Brink has been showcased on the PS3 and at the moment we know there's a closed PS3 beta. I'm not sure if there is anything more concrete than that about the PS3 edition.
