Melee, Unarmed to be exact, nothing like punching a dragon to death

I enjoy all three, when paired with an appropriate character. Melee gives the best feeling, though, especially stealth kills.

Depends on what I feel like doing. I've recently been multiclassing. An assassin that is a mage, A Spellsword, a Sniping Orc Barbarian.

An effective mixture of ranged an melee combat.

I will probably like magic the best once I've modded it to be a bit more sensible. Had a lot of fun with my archer though. Two handed is so far more fun than dual wield.

melee, though i've certainly never enjoyed all types of combat in a game so much. imo beth did a great job with them all.

If I were able to swap weapons or stuff constantly very fast without pausing it would probably be a different answer. Then again I'd probably still pick melee because of perk limitations.

With the way the engine and the game mechanics works, melee is by far the most satisfying, with sword and board being the most fun, although I dual wield now, mostly for aesthetic reasons. (No good light armor shield aside from Elven, and I don't entirely like the heavy armor looks.)

They are all fun in their own way... but melee hands down is the most satisfying for me right now. I understand it is not super complicated but it is the biggest improvement from Oblivion.

In Oblivion, I loved Ranged because first-person thief/assassin was unique to me.

I'm a bit of a magic user at heart (and my second most played character is a pure mage) and always will be (that is where my vote went), but I've really gotten into melee with a couple of my characters. Although those two characters aren't pure melee - one is a touch Paladin-ish, so has some restoration magic on their side, the other is a Vampiric "arcane duelist".

It is really a matter of personal prefference but i can say that dual cast inferno with impact from the destruction tree is pretty awesome. Thump and the enemy goes flying, it is especially cool if you can line it up so that they go flying off a cliff or something and ragdoll down the slope. The next class will be pure melee followed by a pure bow, and then i will hybridize 4,5,6,7,8,9,10, yea i do tend to wring every bit of content from a game. Nice thing is with Skyrim there is alot of stuff to do yet.

All.

I really can't decide. I have made one of each and switch between them often because they are all really fun and can be deadly once you are used to playing them. I haven't made an unarmed character but that's on the to do list.

Normally, I would say magic. This time around, though, it's ranged. Not sure if it's because ranged is just better done this time (which it is), or if magic just feels lacking (which it does).

I do melee with my bow... It block-bashes and shoots.

I always snipe off the low-lifes, and then go in for the kill...

I rarely have to kite... they run so slow and I shoot fast and hard.

If needed, I just jump on a rock, and they can't find me. Or hide against a spider-web, or under an overhang, or on an urn, or stand near water...

Even without the amount of diversity I was hoping for with magic, I still enjoy it the most. I like having options, and currently, there are always different ways of taking out a group of opponents with the various schools.

Although stealth kills are immensely more satisfying in Skyrim than they have been in previous games. Seeing the animation the sneak critical stands for, backstabbing or throat cutting, is a lot cooler than just dumbly swinging a dagger in front of you and seeing 'sneak critical' or whatever.

I've yet to try a melee focused character yet though. So I can't say much about that avenue.

I've voted magic, but only because I'm using a destruction scaling mod. Ranged and melee are both awesome, but I'm tired of them after 150 hours of a ranged/melee character.
