What Lovecraft references would you like to see?

Post » Mon Oct 25, 2010 4:33 pm

Since H.P. Lovecraft references have been in just about every Bethesda game (every one I've played anyway), what do you think Skyrim's will be? What do you want it to be?

I would like to see either The Strange High House in the Mist (some spooky house on a cliff edge that only appears when there is mist around), a reference to The Hound (a werewolf-ish type story, if they are indeed in Skyrim), or a Herbert West-Reanimator reference quest).

How about The Festival or The Rats in the Wall?

Nothing too obvious but something out of Shadow over innsmouth or a reference to one of the gods(NOT CTHULHU) would be pretty nice.

Well, I would like to see Hermaus Mora again. (S)he is said to be pretty connected to the Nords and (s)he is pretty Lovecraftian. Anything else is good to..

The Horror at Red Hook. The Nords are the 'sturdy Vikings', and ( I am loving saying this ) the Dunmer are the 'unclassified dregs'.

:D! Seconded!

I really loved Hackdirt quest in Oblivion. That was one of teh best (creepiest) parts of the entire game. I forget which Lovecraft story it was suppposed to be influenced by.

Haven't you played the Oblivion quest Shadow over Hackdirt?

I personally would like to see something from Pickman's Model, maybe an abandoned house with a bunch of the disturbing sketches and paintings.

Not a Lovecraft fan? The Oblivion one was the Hackdirt village and quest. The one in FO3 was a building that had something to do with the Dunwich Horror, it had a lot of references to the story. I think there was one in Morrowind, though I don't know exactly what it was.

I've played the 1st Cthulhu ccg and the RPG a bit. I knew about Dunwich, but didn't really connect Hackdirt (probably because it's so easy to just walk in and rescue the argonian without really finding any of the "lore" involved in the area). Either way, it hadn't really registered with me as "something to look for" / a trend. :)
