What is Luck of the Irish going to do!?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 8:18 pm

Why is everyone even calling it Luck of the Irish? As far as I know it's never been named or described. Looking at VB's pose and the boxing bag in the background I'd assume it's some sorta fighting perk. Maybe something related to critical hits? Hell, maybe it's even called Fighting Irish or something.

You gain a level when you die.

Of course, when you reload your last save to start playing again...

This is what I suggested on vault111.com. It's definitely related to combat, and the most sensible option given that it's under Luck is that it has to do with Critical Hits. As for the name, that was suggested a while ago on here by The Leprechaun (and no, I'm not kidding!)

EDIT: I may tweak the perk description a bit, but the function will likely remain the same

And now I have an image of Howard, Nora, and Garvey dancing in Concord to the tune of an Irish folklore song in the traditional Irish dance. Someone make a mod of this!

It gives you a backpack that always has a can of Guiness, a potato and a small bucket of gold inside. Unfortunately, the Guiness is warm and flat, the potato is moldy and gold is worthless in the wasteland.

And better yet, all the good gold, food, and Guinness had been taken by the EVIL ENGLISH who just so happen to be the Enclave and...that's it. My Sole Survivor shall be an Irishman! AN IRISHMAN!!

I have now amended the description on http://vault111.com so that the perk will enable you to avoid Critical Hits. This seems far more likely as being the main function.

Holy crap you guys, childish jokes and stereotypes are one thing but some of these comments are racist af

I'm with gk and SimpsonFly in thinking it'll be called "Fightin' Irish", although I couldn't say for sure what it actually does. Party Boy already adds bonuses to alcohol (and without the blatant stereotyping), so I'm 100% positive it's got nothing to do with that. It looks combat-related, but we already have at least a few perks directly related to critical hits so I don't think it would be another buff to those - maybe it adds a chance for enemies you've killed to drop some fat loot? Or maybe it's a defensive perk, like your crit meter goes up as you take damage. Mostly I'm just spitballing ideas I think are cool, though, I have no clue.

It allows you to summon Michael Flatley when you are in danger and he distracts your foes with his magical footwork! Or you can shoot him lol

Gives you your own personal guardian leprechaun... armed with a fully loaded green and gold .44 magnum. With this perk, the Drunk Leprechaun appears occasionally in V.A.T.S. mode to lend a hand, with deadly, albeit inaccurate efficiency.

You get a clan of leprechauns at your disposal, these can be set to follow you in combat where they beat up your enemies or set to extort settlements by offering 'protection' in exchange for caps which they bring back to you. If one dies you have to wait until a rainbow shows up, follow it to its end and take a new leprechaun out of the pot o' gold. If you disrespect the little people they turn into changelings and eat your settlement/companions/LI.

Most likely an increased chance to land punches and maybe a bigger boost in raising the 'execute critical' meter in unarmed V.A.T.S. combat.

Maybe it'll play https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-64CaD8GXw whenever you punch someone.

MSX stole my joke, so here's another suggestion. F4 has weather, right? Maybe there will be rainbows, and people with this perk can find nice stashes (not facial hair, loot) where they end.

Perhaps better crit chance with unarmed/melee?

It could also be the replacement for fortune finder, being that it's a leprechaun.

Maybe some combination of both? "Find considerably more caps on enemies killed with melee or unarmed weapon types."

Fortune Finder is already the L1 perk, though.

Ah. I see. Well, if fortune finder effects containers only, perhaps luck of the Irish will be something akin to my third suggestion.

If Grims Reaper's Sprint will refill the crit bar after a kill, Fighting Irish probably just upgrades every unarmed hit to a crit.

It's too high up on a completely separate stat to only effect unarmed tho. Would be very weird.
