What is Luck of the Irish going to do!?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 5:48 am

L9 is bugging the crap out of me because I have no clue what it's going to do. You would think that it would be unarmed stuff because its a leprechaun putting his dukes up, but unarmed is already S1 and it wouldn't fit a luck perk very well, especially not at such a high level. So I'm picking my brain to figure it out, but I've got nothing. What are your thoughts on what it is?

Chance to find a pot o' gold at the end of the rainbow? Or maybe just some lucky charms.

My guess:

All shots are crits, all lootable containers have 2,000 caps in them, and you have special dialogue choices with all of your companions to have a giant orgy in Vault 111.

This is just my guess, your luck may vary, prices and exclusions may apply see your Overseerer for details. Void where prohibited.

Well if we're going by GK's wild speculation trend, it's going to make us short and turn us into an actual leprechuan, just like E9 turns us into a ghoul. Pictures = reality

Make it rain constantly, destroy the economy of the area and make you unable to say anything along the lines of "no" to what's clearly a bad deal for you.

Being invaded by the English. Potato famine. I'm guessing your settlement will get attacked continuously and you'll run out of food constantly.

Turning radiated water into Whiskey. :foodndrink: for the settlement. My character might be opening a bar called Cheers.

----------------

I have not looked at those perks since I do want to keep the game as fresh as possible for my first playthrough since you only have one unless I :banghead:.

I think it might be a feature to lessen the chance of being hit or the NPC hitting you with a critical attack.

Spontanious guess, better loot from bodies? Possibly a buff to crit rate rate when ya drunk?

I've just added my suggestion to our chart on http://vault111.com. Lots of perks still to go, but I though I'd add this one now in light of your thread ;)

A lot of these perks are still listed as add 20%, 40% etc., or 5/10/15 in this case (to critical?). They specifically said that wasn't going to be the case and I have faith they'll have a bit more creativity than that.

They said it won't just increase % not that the added effects replace % bonuses.

The numerical increments are the easiest part to predict with increasing ranks, but from what Todd has stated, almost all ranks will have some type of unique feature. What I have done is noted this at the end of each description, and have suggested at least some of the additional functionality for most of the perks. The full and complete details for every perk will be added as soon as the game launches.

A higher chance for extra loot ("pot of gold") sounds like the most logical idea to me.

Looking at what VB is actually doing, it's far more likely to be combat oriented.

You get drunk easier, but better stat buffs while you are drunk. :celebration:

Honestly I think that it's just a boost to everything Luck related. Maybe even boosting your L to 10 (or at least counting it as such for everything except the lvl 10 perk requirement). Find more caps, better loot, better criticals, random encounters and maybe being lucky enough that some enemies miss you or mines don't go off near you. Something fun, I hope, not just dumb old "get 10% more of this!"

I really hope its this. I never really drank much alcohol in the previous games because they didn't have a ton of a use, but the idea that like tier one would be something like damage resistance increase and damage increase when drunk, tier two being staying drunk longer, and then tier three doing more damage. I sounds intuitive enough to be a perk too, but then again Bethesda would probably steer away from that because it might be seen as "racist". The whole crits outside of vats thing I hope is false because I really hope they happen outside of VATS anyways, like for sneak or melee, or if I just shoot someone in the head. IDK, I just hope it's more intuitive than instant crits outside of VATS because of how high of a perk it is on the luck tree.

The last 5 Luck perks all appear to be combat focused, which would make a lot of sense.

A long history of builders, poet's, clergy, plus the gift of gab and the cutest girls in the world (Opinion heh). And a pretty good if varied track record for fighting here in the states being on both sides for the early bits. General Robert ross an irishman fighting for the english burned the whitehouse heheh And later The Irish Brigade (who took some of the worst losses in the civil war) really took a hit at Fredricksburg fighting heh more damn Irish a confederate regiment under- general T reade rootes cobb.

What I hope for is altering of loot tables to favor slightly more rare weapons. Be it enemies spawning with better equipment, or containers having more worthwhile loot. It sort of fits, you could be fighting the leprechaun over loot. And it'd be a mixed blessing with enemies being slightly more dangerous.
