I generally play a mage/warrior hybrid that leans more to the warrior side. My characters are always "good" unless I made them for comic relief.

So I'm gonna have to go with the Companions.

Edit: The new magic system looks really fun though, but I generally lean to the warrior side. We'll see on 11-11-11! ;)

We don't know if the College will be fighting Necromancy.

Also, put "Mercenaries" under companions. That's a more fitting description.

Really? They're mercenaries?

Yay my TES dream of being able to be a mercenary has finally become reality! (If that's the case ;))

The College of WInterhold
Mage's guild. Get assignments to stop necromancy.

nope, that is not what the mage guild is dedicated too, that was only traven in oblivion, if not i will destory the mage guild, on every character i make, and if i get it for comupter i will get a mod to erase the mages guild from the game...i hate traven, the worthless brat just wanted to have his little fight with manimarco while using other's lives in their little game

Think about the fighter's guild... they are mercenaries... get paid for your fighting skills to help people do things... that's what a mercenary really is...

Well, yeah. A mercenary is someone who fights for money (not for their country or beliefs). The "Fighter's Guild" is just an organization made of Mercenaries.

Dark Brotherhood probably, will likely leech off of Companions as well.
And exploit College for it's services.

But only one I'll really go through with is Dark Brotherhood, only one that fits the character.

I only said that because we don't have much information on what the mages guild does...

Hmmm true. Guess I was thinking about a little less organized faction of mercenaries, my own translation of the term must have faded in the past few years.
To elaborate; I've always thought of mercenaries as being a bit less organized.

Well all in all I hope they'll have less quests like in Oblivion (go exterminate this cave, ok good now the next) and more about protecting traveling merchants/nobles, etc...

I honestly hate "protect" missions... I hate being slowed down by someone... :flamethrower:

the practice of magic is what the mages guild does  but honestly i hated that anti-school of magic thing in oblivion, more so since it had reason behind it other than traven throwing a hissy fit when manimarco did...something, i dont think they ever even gave an explination about what manimarco did (besides protect himself). if i sounded hostile it was not intended, i just wanted to make sure you knew that necromancers are supposed to be accepted in the guild (now moreso than ever since the dunmer lost their homeland and necormancy became legal everywhere)

anyway, ot: i will be joining the thieves guild, maybe, it fits my (first) rp the best i guess

True, but the quests in Oblivion's Fighter's guild weren't very imaginative. :(

I can only hope that I'd be able to escort traveling people with the radiant AI system, rather than being stranded at some high guild rank not being able to do anything productive. ;)

Thieves Guild baby!!! I wish there was an assassins guild. The Dark Brotherhood kinda fits the role except they are just creepy murderers who prey on the innocent. Not saying i didnt enjoy them but i wish there was a more organized and legal group.

Weren't the Legion in game too, or was that disproven?

I would do that first. Otherwise, the Fighters/companions group. My first char would probably be a battle type thing.
