What makes the Aldmeri relatively unpopular?

well play as khajiit or wood elf and you'll find some lovely racism from the altmer in parts.

Care to elaborate? I didn't see any of that. Not from friendly npcs, at least.

This. They are probably going to be the biggest of the 3 factions.

The conflict between the Orismer and Bretons is quite evident and irks me. But I think they are overlooking the past for the greater cause, for the moment at least. I always used to absolutely hate the Dominion and in my first test I played a Redguard Sorceror, Sword and Board and would literally run around Cyrodiil yelling 'Slaughter the Elvish bastards!'

However, since playing as a Bosmer last Beta I found the Dominion on a whole to be very honorable and unified, changing my perception greatly and making me warm to them. However I still couldnt choose them as my alliance because I WANT to be prejudiced against them. I'm not quite ready to let go of that..

Plus, my favourite colour out of the three is blue, and I dislike yellow (Ha!) And I wouldn't play as part of the Pact because its kinda like.. Pact Infantryman: "Hang on, wtf am I fighting for? And I dont even like the two other races I'm fighting with.." xD

That was during the third era I believe.

As I said, not friendly npcs. The members of the Veiled Heritance are our enemies, they want to murder our queen

Not sure why any of them are unliked in any way, but, for my part, I hated the starter area for the AD. The other two areas had a lot of stuff to do in a small'ish area, then progressed to another 'hub' etc... The AD, otoh, starts in a ruin, talk to some people, step outside and start walking down the beach, and eventually you find a quest to propel you, then another quest, then another... but much walking and wandering in between each. Feels like the difference between having a meal at a table or following bread crumbs down the road and eating them as you go. While I don't mind either one really, it is far more convenient to have your meal all in one place, rather than go wandering around and hunting for it in small tidbits...

So far, I love Orcs, and like High Elves and Nords... so will probably play an orc, but not sure which faction yet.

I enjoy their arrogance; I find it entertaining. Nothing bores me more than a lawful good character, that's already too much like my real life.

Ayrenn might see them as equals; I don't think too many others do. Altmer are the pinnacle of perfection; everyone else should be grateful the altmer acknowledge they even exist. Of course it will all be better, once they civilize the khajiit, trim, prune, and shape the forest, and generally bestow the great benefits of their rule everywhere.

From the journal of Henyarie:

Thirty years of work eaten by a visiting Khajiiti “dignitary.” Eaten. All of my careful work selecting only the most perfectly-shaped silverscales for breeding lost in an afternoon of ignorant indulgence. And worse: my own son is to blame. I ordered him quite clearly to accompany the cat-man at all times on our property. His disobedience will be properly addressed later.

For now, I can only lament the loss of my best stock. The most beautiful fish in all of Tamriel, every shining scale a little triangle of perfection, every fine translucent fin ideally shaped—all lost. I found the scoundrel, languid and stuffed, dozing amongst their skeletons.

Notes of Andandon, ambassador:

We have made great strides here with our less civilized kin. Near our own settlements you can even see the beginnings of control over the wilderness. It is true that there is beauty here, though it is chaotic and unchecked. It has been difficult to establish what we have; our dear allies are quite touchy when it comes to the woods, but they understand the benefits that our influences convey.

I will continue to work tirelessly to prove that we will preserve the most important parts. The lives of the Bosmer residing among us are much improved already. Incidences of parasites, theft, and Daedra-worship are on the decline. There has, of course, been some resistance from staunch traditionalists to our cultural leadership and enhancements, but I suspect it will subside as more of our allies reap the rewards of a more civilized life.

From the journal of Aretille, High Elven scholar:

The Bosmer seem to have no word for “lost.” They also seem to have very little respect for punctuality, as I’ve discovered in my time with this caravan. When I mentioned to the Elf that seems to be in charge here that we’re more than a week past our scheduled arrival time, he just shrugged and said “The trail took longer to find us this time.” What piffle!

I hope that one of the Dominion’s first priorities will be establishing some actual trade routes through this miserable forest. No wonder the Wood Elves are so far behind us, living here amongst all the bugs and beasts, refusing to even build proper roads. It’s a shame they are so complacent about taming Valenwood, but our influence will certainly speed up the process!

1.Men are too weak to compare them with Legolas.

2.Elder Scrolls elves are not Tolkien elves.

3.Legolas is not Orlando Bloom and Tolkien never made him look like a woman

He was as tall as a young tree, lithe, immensely strong, able swiftly to draw a great war-bow and shoot down a Nazg?l, endowed with the tremendous vitality of Elvish bodies, so hard and resistant to hurt that he went only in light shoes over rock or through snow, the most tireless of all the Fellowship." —J.R.R. I get your point. That said, 'lithe' is a descriptor I've seen used to describe women far more often than men. Lithe does not give you the impression of a bodybuilder or anybody of strength. It makes you think 'skinny' or 'thin.' But in a sensuous way.

Secondly, he was so light of step he could run on top of snow. Now, in Tolkiens day where the best heavyweight boxer of all time was a wopping 191 lbs at his heaviest (Jack Dempsey), it was considered normal for a man to average more in the 130-150 lb range. Compared to the hobbits (who couldn't walk on snow), this 'tall' and 'lithe' individual was fairly lightweight.

Strong is also relative to the times. Strongmen today are (in most cases) topping the efforts of strongmen of that time period by hundreds of pounds. With two notable and very rare exceptions which are still extreme.

Obviously, Tolkein's definition of manliness was different than the modern era. I saw a tall, skinny blonde who looked like he weighed 90lbs dripping wet, no matter how 'hard' he is, I'm going to think girly man. Especially since even Legolas is described as fair and beautiful to behold.

I play them because its the least depression area, the other two after about 30 minutes or so just make me want to go fall on my sword, they are so dark and bleak.

While this kind of conflict would be really interesting, it is not in the part of the game that we the stress testers were allowed to see. Since the site presented Queen Ayrenn as your average supremacist, but through her dialogues we find out that she is nothing like that, I will wait to see if any of this information that is on the site will make it into the game.

That's because Ayrenn believes that the Altmer alone can't retake the White Gold Tower and fight Molag Bal, if I remember it correctly.

I don't hate the races within it but the faction at that time and the thalmor in skyrim timeline seem like they are too prideful, as if the humans should follow their rule because they assume they are superiors just because they live longer. I think their lands are beautiful however and they have it the most easy as a way of life compare to ebonheart who have a hard life style such as cold weather, volcanic and earthquake regions and swampy, dangerous areas. I have respect for ebonheart not just because they keep strong in such a hard life but also because they just want to be individual, second to dagerfall covenant who want to unite, which is also good and third to the aldmeri dominion, who want to rule above mens. I know the imperial city was originally from the elves but they brought that outcome upon themself for years of slavery, just like the dark elf pay in recent times, first by the volcano eruption and then by the argonian attack.

Maybe it's the event's of ESO that drive them to become so snobbish. But looking at the mer in general, they tend to murder and sabotage each other a fair amount throughout history.
