I was more speaking of the war of the subraces. The betrayal of the snow elves by the dwemer. The war between the dwemer and the dunmer. The corruption of the orcs due to their not agreeing with the dunmer. The wars between bosmer and altmer. The entire race has more time to deal with, but the infighting is also more pronounced, and often times leads to genocide.

Meanwhile, Nords and their decedents in Imperials and Bretons have had relatively peaceful coexistence, considering. Add the Redguards in, and we see a warrior people that stick pretty much to themselves along with the Bretons. Over and over, war happens more between man and mer than man and man. I think Aldmeri will be one of the least popular factions once the game launch because of 2 main things.

1 - They were the prideful, pricks of Skyrim. They were basically there to be hated.

2 - They are the least human faction. There's no humans in the Dominion, and most games have always had the faction that best represents humanity to be the most popular, simply because many players feel like they are protecting mankind.

So, even though Daggerfall is trailing on most polls right now, I think they're going to end up being the biggest faction. They have 2 mostly human races, and they are kinda considered the "good guys" in the fact that they want to restore the human Empire. Humanity's biggest hope for a bright future.

The Nords pretty much hunted down and committed genocide on the snow elves and still murder the falmer, Breton and red guard constantly attack and murder the Orismer for no reason at all but they repeat it countless times, The imperial and Nords also completely drove the ayelid elves to extinction and the redguards commented genocide on the left hand elves.

Very avid tolkien fan. On shelf next to me is two copies of Lord of the Rings, three copies of Hobbit, a stolen library book for Tolkeins biography, and Unfinished tales that has a copyright date of 1980. Not all that I've read, though, but I enjoy it.

As far as elves within Tolkein lore? They are a matter of his imagination and the time he was alive. As is the values and descriptions of all his characters. Elven men were effeminate but capable, making a striking contradiction to Dwarves who displayed all the traits of 'manliest of men' (huge beards, boisterous personalities, barrel figures) but were written to be exceptionally prone to fault. All in all, Tolkien was highly favorable to the race of Elves as they were his favorite, and he wrote them to display the characteristics he most saw in his ideal self. A whole race of Mary Sue. Eternal, wise, strong, without having to be too masculine to be that way.

All that said, I also am the type of person who looks down on that general method of thinking. Where I got that from. I did find an in-game book that should make the Bretons very, very, very paranoid about the orcs; I can't wait until the new books get added to the uesp or Imperial library. It will make it a lot easier to show people where an idea came from.
