What makes you SPECIAL? Endurance!

It doesn't make any sense that a man eating a human foot is this umbrella perk that represents all kinds of food like sugar bombs and salisbury steak. It would make sense if the perk animations on the chart actually "progressed" to represent the level of the perk. That doesn't appear to be the case, though.

This video is pretty encouraging for some primary needs or at least some form of food/water needs being in Fallout 4. Maybe stimpaks are more rare and food is the cheapest and most common form of healing? I heard from the quakecon footage that there's actual animations for injecting the stimpaks now, maybe there's more weight to them rather than 3/NV where I was using them two at a time as emergency healing.

My suggestion is that this would cover all meat, which would make sense. From a technical viewpoint, there would be very little difference between eating raw meat from an animal compared to eating raw meat from a human. The required biological resistances would be essentially the same.

Incidentally, I have amended my previous suggestions of Rocketeer and Crushing Blow to Armorer and Weaponsmith. I have also made a few other changes to the perk line-up on my thread. Just thought I would let you know :D

I'm inclined to believe it could be a combination of cannibalism and http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Ghastly_Scavenger - i.e. covers the eating of humanoids.

It would be interesting (and would make some sense) if the cannibalism perk was a higher rank of a general "raw meat eating" perk, but the video doesn't really give that impression.

It does seem like a natural (or unnatural) progression, once you've been hunting other animals for meat.

With all respect, I think you're overthinking it.

Maybe this is one of the ranked perks, one dealing with unconventional food. Cannibalism, Ghastly Scavenger and Tribal Wisdom all come to mind.

I wonder if food will still give (basically) immediate hp, or if the effect will take place or over a longer period of time. I would prefer the later. Eating everything in my inventory in the middle of a battle always seemed a bit strange to me.

Except for the risk of contracting Kuru, which is lethal and uncurable. Eating human flesh is nothing like eating beef or chicken.

Isn't that just from eating brains specifically?

Specifically. Out of curiosity, I started doing research on the effects of cannibalism on the human body. Kuru is indeed caused by eating the brains of other humans.

I'm going to stick with my gut feeling that the translation of that chart is not what is being speculated it is.

The 8th perk down the END row does NOT mean you need an 8 END to obtain that perk. I stated it and stand by it until release (or someone at Beth states it as an absolute fact).

Yeah, today's Blog certainly stated it's a fact....so I stood by it for about 24 hours.

That can likely be said for just about any perk in the chart that belongs to one of the attributes. Not everyone is going to be interested in every perk aligned to their focused attributes. For example, some folk don't want Bloody Mess, or Mysterious Stranger, or perhaps a number of Charisma perks that grant them benefits they're not interested in with their speech character. And yet they're all there anyway. In no way does this not make any less sense.

Now, I'm also in agreement with everyone else who is believing that is Cannibalism. As it seems as clear as day to me. And no doubt addition ranks to the perk will grant the benefit of expanding your appetite to other life forms than just humans as past games have had, as Motsie suggested. That would make the most sense would granting addition benefits to the perk.

I believe it was stated outright when they talked about perks at Quakecon, but I'd have to go back through a bunch of articles. But how else could it possibly work?

I really hope it isn't as linear as that. If I want the 10th perk of something, I don't want to HAVE to take everything else, and every rank, to get to it. I hate that about some games (coughborderlandscough) and we haven't seen that system in fallout before. Sure there may be some requirements but I'm crossing my fingers I don't have to climb a perk ladder

I don't think that's what's implied. They're saying you'd need 10 in that specific SPECIAL stat in order to select the 10th perk.

No, it's not a perk progression system like Skyrim was. The stat level is a prerequisite, but if you have 8 Endurance, you can take the 8th level perk without having taken any of the others.

Ohhhh right right. I definitly read this as something else haha one would think more than one perk would have the same SPECIAL requirement right? So if cannibalism is 8E there is something else I could pick at 8E instead? Very curious to see how it'll end up working really. I guess like 3P and rank 2 of gun nut would unlock something and so on, similar to how it was handled previously

I appreciate your comment, and I also understand why many people are taking this outright as being the Cannibal perk. But seeing as this one is very close to my prediction, I'm going to keep the perk on my thread (as well as on vault111.com) as Carnivore. This is also due to the additional functionality that I have explained on my thread, which I feel would fit very well with the rest of the perks. If that proves to be incorrect, any required adjustments will likely be relatively minor once the game is released.
