What makes you a Stormcloak?

Post » Wed Apr 17, 2013 6:55 am

Note: This isn't a forum game, in case anyone gets that idea. I just like putting things in song to make them more interesting. Give us reasons why you support the Stormcloaks. Imperials, explain why you are not a Stormcloak, and please think about your response. That goes for both sides. Stormcloaks arent racist, and the Empire does not like the Thalmor.

You know you are a Stormcloak when you put a http://ericanorth.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Ralof.jpg,
Or if you take your laptop to join these threads everywhere,
You know you are a Stormcloak when your most spoken word is TRUE,
Or when your favorite color is officially the color blue,
You know you are a Stormcloak when you always watch the show Vikings,
Or when you have decided red is no longer to your liking,
You know you are a Stormcloak when you put Heimskr's sermon to song,
Or when you agree oppression for the "greater good" is wrong,
I know I'm a Stormcloak, this is how I let it show,
Why are you a Stormcloak? Give us your reasons below.

^Heimskr song mentioned above here. Just for fun. Not trying to show off, I just like it and thought people may enjoy it.

The Word of Heimskr
by ColonelKillaBee

I alone have been anointed to spread his holy word,
By the Nine to speak for Talos, Legion haven’t you heard?
He’s Talos the unerring, Talos the Unassailable,
How dare you step to me and tell me my god is unprayable?
He’s the one who started your Empire’s whole construction,
But the Thalmor got you writhing in the filth of your corruption!
With Numidium, he caused millions of mer fatalities,
Don’t hate because a man rose from the dung of immortality!
He was once man, aye! And as man he said,
“I won’t stop until you bow or ‘til all of you are dead!”
“The name is Talos, let me show you the power”
That’s why I preach his mighty word every minute and hour,
Just like their tower he’s gonna knock ‘em down and cause mer to splinter,
Cuz I'm born of the North where my breath is long winter!
I breathe now and reshape this land which is mine,
Cuz he is Talos, not the man, but Talos the Divine!
I still love you Red Legions, Aye love, love!
Even as you all betray me while I watch from above,
Each one of you held….the future of Tamriel,
But now you serve the elves because you’re under their spell,
And there it is friends, the whole ugly truth!
If you think that I’m lying, the treaty is the proof!
The true god of man, raised to the realm of spirit,
That’s why those elves are hatin and they don’t want to hear it,
The idea is inconceivable to our elf overlords,
Not only is a man a god, but that man is a Nord!
Nords were blessed with greatness from the day of our birth,
That’s why the elves can’t tolerate our presence on earth,
Will you let them take your businesses? Your children? Your lives?
The Stormcloaks surely will not! Not while Jarl Ulfric’s alive!
And the Empire does nothing to settle the score,
The Imperial machine makes you bend to the will of the Thalmor!
So Riiiise up, and join Stormcloaks, who are better,
So we, not the elves, will rule Skryrim…FOREVER!!!!!!!

Well Colonel it all started with the Empire wanting to execute my character right at the start of the game even though I was not on the executioners list. So from that point I had a grudge with the Empire and so it was Stormcloak every play through for me, that together with the 4398 reasons that the Colonel put to me about the benifits of being a true Stormcloak! LOL :tops:

When you realise that Vladimir Kulich could read the Yellow Pages and make it awesome.
When you mourn the fact that Ulfric will never be High King due to having no more DLC.

Lol, so would you still be a Stormcloak if the Empire did not try to cut off your head? To be honest I don't care about that as much as I proclaim in discussions. I was an Imperial supporter on my first playthrough. So if I'm to be honest, I don't actually hold that against them. I killed the Captain responsible anyway. And the General, lol.

Yes I think I would have gone down the Stormcloak route anyway, prefer what they believe in and Ulfric's a cool dude too.

The dude is pretty badass. After dragonborn, I wish he'd wear the new nordic carved armor. It's just too perfect for him. With the bear helmet and everything. The boots look somewhat similar to what he wears too.

 That's perfect.

Here's some points for you imperial supporters to argue against to get the ball rolling:

My reasons for joining the Stormcloaks are:

1. Being under Imperial influence has made them a shadow of what Skyrim once was, by their cultural influence and by relying on the Empire for military might.

2. Mede backed down too easy. After the war was ended in a stalemate, he should not have accepted the elves first offer for peace. At the very least, he could have called for a new treaty after he saw how the Thalmor failed in Hammerfell.

3. Ulfric is nothing like what the Imperial supporters including Balgruuf say he is. His cause is also a noble one, and from speaking to him personally, I see no evidence of a man hungry for the throne for the sake of power itself. I see a man who wants power to do what he thinks is right for his nation.

4. Ulfric seems like the leader Skyrim needs to make it strong again.

5. A stormcloak victory is every bit as viable as an Imperial one. I know this from the evidence the developers gave us through the dossier.

6. Trade will not stop after a Stormcloak victory between Skyrim and the Empire. It is too important for both nations, and our own history shows that nations who recently fought still trade afterwards if it is truly important for their country's survival. My motto is When it comes to countries, "Survival trumps grudges". Every time.

7. The Empire would have you believe that the Thalmor would invade Skyrim successfully without them, but if you study the map of Tamriel and look at its borders, natural borders, and know anything about invasions, you'd see that it is not possible unless the Thalmor take over the Empire first, which considering how strategic it is to have the Empire in front of Skyrim, no country would let that happen no matter how big the grudge is. Nords have fought alongside Dark Elves in history before, and much more blood was spread between them. There's no reason to believe that Skyrim wouldn't help the Empire when that endangers them as well.

8. As previously stated, an invasion from the Dominion just can't work on Skyrim. There's no nearby safe port for a naval invasion, which is essential. No invasion in real life history ever suceeded without a nearby safe port to receive supplies and reinforcements. And a land invasion wont work with the Empire in the way.

9. The Empire has shown through Hammerfell's treatment that they don't care about their people, and that their provinces are expendable.

10. The Empire's spirit is broken, and they are merely a shadow of what they once were. The last gasping breath of a dying man. When they crumble, I don't want Skyrim to be under them, because when they do fall, chaos will break out, and that will only hurt Skyrim if they are still heavily reliant on them.

Oh, and those idiots tried to cut off my head with no reason or proof of me being a Stormcloak. Didn't give this a number because it's not as important, but it's there.

When I heard about the civil war quest line before Skyrim's release, I already knew I was going to oppose the empire. Never liked them and being able to kick them to the curb on behalf of the Nords was too good to be true. Vladimir Kulich being voice of the rebellion was even better.

I see it as Arminius in the Teutoburger Wald, or what it would have been like if Vercingetorix and Commius had won at Alesia. Don't hate the Romans but it was better for everyone when they got their nose bloodied and were sent back home to Italy. I hate the imperialistic expansionistic impulse, which is all about greed. The situation in Tamriel is more complicated because of the mythic, but in this case I think the mythical is on the Stormcloaks' side, too.

I've been a stormcloak twice, once when I was doing recherche into them when I was new to Skyrim, and later when I was RPing as a Thalmor agent. I find nothing appealing about them, despise Ulfric, and generally see them as short sighted people who are ruled by emotion and not thinking clearly. They seem to lash out at the Empire over what the Dominion had done, and would trade 800 years of history for the last 25 years. If a two words can sum them up, I would say that word is "Fair-weather friend"

My Argonian is a Stormcloak and is known as the she-bear of Skyrim, her troops include Khajiit, Bosmer, Altmer, Argonians, Dunmer, Nords, Imperials, Bretons, Orcs, and Redguards because she demanded a huge variety of troops and Ulfric just couldn't say no because 1. She is the Dragonborn
2. She could probably rip his head off right now and feed it to werewolves
3. Dat Nordic armor and weapons
4. she has conditioned her troops to hate the Thalmor

Nuff said
