What makes you think of Fallout?

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 12:44 am

My question is, what everyday thing makes you think of Fallout, a specific game or the series in general.

For me:

- Megadeth makes me think of Fallout in general, since quite a few of their songs have to do with Nuclear War, or War in general

- Old TracPhones, since the reflectors in the middle of the roads look like cell phones, in Fallout New Vegas and 3

- The people in my town remind me of the enemies from Point Lookout.

There's a closed down variety store that I pass by every day that always makes me think, I bet there are some rusty cans and bottles of Nuka Cola in there.

Ohhh yes, theres an old store that is pretty big that is literally completely gutted out with a huge cracked, weed infested parking lot. The building is cracked and crumbling, looks pretty Fallout to me. I was going to loot it, but I think I saw some raiders in that area a few days ago. Fudge.

Good call. There is probably a dormant robot you might be able to reactivate on your side, though!

Anything I read/watch about the cold war. I went to the war museum in Ottawa and I could not stop thinking about Fallout. Anything about bomb shelters or bunkers.

I have the "PLEASE STAND BY" screen as my desktop, so every time I turn on my computer I think about it. I'm an electrician, and I was just doing a job at a local glass factory, and there are areas in there that look like the Pitt. I mean, a lot like it. Molten glass, steam, dark, run down, dirty, and hot. Felt like a slave in the Mill.

I just bought an anime call Samurai 7 that sort of reminded me of Fallout a little bit. Especialy if I were to use a katana mod.

The large amount of bottle caps I have sitting on top of my entertainment center.

For Christmas, I got a Mauser pistol. If you don't know what that is think of the Chinese pistol. When I opened that I immediately thought of Fallout 3.

Just watched The Book of Eli a couple of days ago, and I annoyed my friends to death by making comparisons to Fallout throughout the entire movie. Similar thing happened when I watched The Road some time before that.

Almost everything makes me think of Fallout these days. Road signs from places in the area that are in the game is always a big one. Driving by the airport does it for modding reasons, anytime I mess with the guns I find myself comparing them to Fallout.

Most especially the music, I still listen to it when modding and sometimes working. :)

Lately, when big flakes of snow tumble down...whoa, find myself thinking of bits of rumble/ash drifting down in the Wasteland.

Pretty much everything along my commute to work, reminds me of Fallout 3. I start off in a hilly area that geographically speaking would be just north of the Wheaton Armory in real life, and yes. I pass by a Metro Station, that makes me think immediately of the Metro Tunnels of FO3. I head north along Georgia Avenue which leads to "Old Olney". I contemplate what building is supposed to be the "Temple of the Union" and where the "Grisly Diner" is at. I head west across Rock Creek, and think of the "Rock Creek Caverns". I pass by the Nuka Cola plant, or rather the Coca Cola plant. I cut through some neighborhoods near Bethesda Softs offices, which leads me to a circle, reminiscent of "Tranquility Lane". Occasionally, I'll head over to such notable places as the "Bethesda Ruins" or Friendship Heights. And of course, who can drive across the American Legion Bridge without thinking of "Arefu"? It goes without saying that going Downtown to DC is like one huge flashback. Yeah, I've got some issues.

Oh yeah, the Channel 40s on 4 on Sirius/XM radio or the Siriusly Sinatra channel also put me in the Fallout mood.

My family and I went to the mall the other day. I was just tagging along without wanting to buy anything. There were eight of us. I was trying to keep track of where everyone was, and every time I looked at someone, it was though I was using the V.A.T.S. system on them. I could hear the "whoosh" in my mind, and then I would home in on that person.

Probably a good thing I didn't have a plasma rifle with me.

Wait, wait....... What reminds me of Fallout? Are you telling me that we don't live in the Capital Wasteland and that I am not the savior that will bring purified water back to D.C.?

Oooooh, and all this time I thought it was real! Now I know EXACTLY how Buzz Lightyear felt when he found out he was a toy and not the "real Buzz Lightyaer"..... I suppose you're going to tell me that that was never real too now, huh?

Your poor neighbour!

Speaking of neighbours, I was out walking with my daughter yesterday and noticed some of the houses have what looks like those man holes leading to antechambers...all I can think of is that it must be a panic room with some skeletons, a radio, some supplies, and possibly a hostile or two.

There's this creek near my grandparents' house and whenever I see it I check for mirelurks. I'm also careful not to touch the water so I don't get any rads. Also when I see a Coca-Cola bottle I think Nuka-Cola- HP+10 RAD+3
