What Media Player (audio) is everyone using these days?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 10:33 am

I'm still using Winamp. It's working just fine for me, so I never really looked at all the other players. But now I was wondering, what is everyone else using? Is Winamp still widely used?

I'm still using Winamp too. I really don't have much of a reason to want to use anything else. For video I use VLC.

The Creative music player that came with my soundcard. It works well and I like better than the newer versions of winamp.

...still use a very old version of winamp on my secondary XP pc tho.

Dito. It has a playlist and a volume slider. I don't need anything else, really.

Foobar2000 here. A while back I tried basically all the media players and Foobar was the only one I found with a nice customizable and clean interface as well as not memory leaking like crazy. A big plus is when it monitors a folder it doesn't take time to add new music, it's just there.

It would be fun if people added pictures of their setup:

Foobar 2000. Lightweight, portable, and doesn't hog system resources.

I used to use WinAmp before Foobar, but that was a while ago.

It's a little brighter actually, the screenshot seems to have made the colours dull.

iTunes mostly, only because I have an Ipod though.

I recently got myself a big boy sound system with a giant subwoofer that runs at 1.21 jiggawatts. Not sure which is the best player to use for the best sound quality, I don't even know if it makes a difference.

VLC Media Player. It plays every format I need it to. Not interested in fancy skins for sound or video.
I used to use Media Player Classic and I like it because it has no installer.

iTunes-I like the availability of the podcasts and I have an iPod. I think I'd probably be using something different if I didn't have an iPod though.
