I did not get my first one until I was in the US Army, stationed in Germany. So my first car was a 1980(?) Ford Taunus. Similar to the Taurus, but a little smaller.
PS: The first NEW car I got was a 1989 Geo Prizm.
probably some hot wheels toy
as for actual car, never had one
A 1974 Ford Torino. I paid $500 for it in 1981. The guy I bought it from went mullet fishing a lot and used to throw his cast nets in the trunk, so the trunk floor was badly rusted out. I had to cut plywood sheets and fit them in there so stuff wouldn't fall out.
Couldn't be any worse than my first car...an 81 Ford Mistake...errr, I mean Mustang I bought back in 89. After that car, I vowed to never drive another Ford product again as long as I live. I have yet to go back on my word, and am in no danger of doing so. Once burned, as they say.
Hooptie 1986 Honda Prelude SI.
Impatient buy at a young immature age...car was already 12 years old. Was quite the piece of junk.
That would take a while. I'm on my 11th since I started driving. Three of those were totaled in accidents (none of them my fault).
I've owned quite a few myself over the years, many of them clunkers I swear I had to pray that would be able to last just one more day before it took a big [censored] on me.
My current car was nearly totaled by some fool behind me who for some unfathomable reason didn't understand what brakes lights were meant for. I think I'm going to hold on to it until I can't hold on no more. At 16 years old now, you'd think it was time to be replaced, but at under 100,000 miles, it still has plenty of life left.
Think it was a 94 Chevy Camaro. I remember it not having leather seats. I did not like that.
I tend to do that with them myself, drive them until the wheels fall off. My current one (a 2007 Ford Escape) has about 131,000 miles on it; I hope to get another couple of years out of it before I have to get another.
Down in Florida you very quickly learn to appreciate cloth seats.
I grew up in Florida and understand this completely. Now that I live up north (midwest) I still appreciate cloth seats, not because of my time in Florida, but because leather seats get awfully cold in the winter time. When the back of your shirt rides up a little too far when it's below freezing, that's every bit as bad as burning you backside on hot leather.
1976 Olds Cutlass. Except it wasn't cool, it was a four door.
A volkswagen Polo: can't remember the year, it was a UK Y-reg if anyone can be bothered to figure it out. It was a black "squareback" type, so my dad nicknamed it The Hearse (to be fair, he was the unlucky recipient of a brown Ford Sierra from his work's car leasing company, which he called The Turd, both for its appearance and overall quality. But I digress).
It was only an 1.1 litre model but a car-nut friend helped me muck about with the engine to make it go a bit quicker than was intended. Then I broke the gearbox. Because it's what I do.
First car I drove: My dads blue '93 chevy cavalier.
First car I bought: An '86 Dodge Daytona(Silver)
First new car: 1997 Blue Dodge Neon.
A 2001 Ford Focus, it was used, i've had it for about 4 years already going 5.
It needed some engine fixes, thankfully my dad is a mechanic tech so he fixed it up good. This was during senior high school. I got the car becaused i needed transportation to college. I had my good moments with the car, lol I got my licence with that car. Then i fixed it up even more, the car had very bad paint, it was rusted so i put some money aside for a paint job. Looks new and still runs with no problem.
