What's More Important to you Spears or Mounts?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:11 am

I don't really see the point in this poll

I didn't really use either so I don't really care, but if I had to chose I would say spears.

You should really try games like Assassin Creed 2/Red Dead Redemption to get a great idea on how amazing mounts can be.... Also another really impressive game that's VERY much a sleeper hit plus it's an indie game is Mount and Blade: Warpath... This kind of combat fits perfectly for TES previous titles such as Morrowind/Oblivion... It's truely amazing for a limited funded & small team put together.

Far Cry 2 would be too huge if it weren't for the abundance of vehicles. I think skyrim should have new mounts; if they can't be flying mounts, maybe a new faster creature, idk.

In the Podcast they were saying that they weren't done well enough in Oblivion, and will only have them if they can be done well.

Why do people keep making threads about spears and how easy it'll be to kill dragons with them and that's why they should be in the game? Lol, like, really? What does that have to do with a spear? They are confirmed NOT in the game. It's legit confirmed. So what's the point of asking these questions?
I don't know where you get your secret info from, but Dragons wont be arial enemies only. They'll land. And hell, stab it with the tip of your 2h sword? It's not hard to find gameplay factors around not having a spear.

Mounts are a must for me. I don't fast travel as a rule so I would like to see them in. Mounted combat would just be a bonus. They need to perfect the horse mechanics first. Make their movement more fluid and reactive to the environment. They also need to make the mount/dismount system much smoother and friendlier to use. And finally the ability to load your horse up with gear and loot would be a nice touch.

For all you spear fans...I'm guessing halberds are already in...so there ya go. It may not be the exact same, but similar enough.

riding a horse would seem impractical with so many mountains around...

Mounts are not necessary, I would rather see spears brought back. Since they have fast travel now, mounts are pointless.

\the truth is I do not really care whether mounted combat is in as long as I can ride a horse, gar, or Mammoth instead of using fast travel

Actually, if halberds are in the game, I'll be quite happy. Though it would still be nice to have the Spear of Bitter Mercy. I'll go after all those mounted enemies with my halberd, chopping their little horses' legs outs from under then and yanking the riders off the backs of their mounts. Muahaha. If we get halberds. I won't hold my breath.

It's not all mountainous terrain. Besides that's what trails, paths and mountain passes are for.

Mounts are not necessary, I would rather see spears brought back. Since they have fast travel now, mounts are pointless.

To you perhaps, but what about those of us who don't use fast travel. You don't see me saying that fast travel is pointless just because I and others don't use it. I agree that fast travel should be in for players like you, so long as its optional--just like mounts should be in for players like me. Ultimately, you don't have to actually get on the horse and use it.

Remember that you're not the only person who is going to be playing this game, and please try to realize that fact before saying that something is completely pointless.

Spears. I'd like to see both, but if I could only pick one, spears.

I'm sure most of the people who voted for Spears haven't played Mount&Blade or Red Dead Redemption. Proper Horses and Mounted Combat are an inevitability.

that would be epic lol

I voted mounts. Partly because I'm hoping for a flying dragon mount although that is doubtful and because there is already a good variety of weapons available.

Maybe I am wrong but I suppose moding more perks will be easy and adding a different animation for new perks could be doable. Moding a mounted combat system seems way more difficult. Besides I preffer mounted combat than spears. So I vote mounts.

Spears would be alot easier to mod in than mounts. I want mounts mostly so npcs can have mounts, I want horses in the game for to make the world more believable, there are jobs for npcs and local economeys 4 towns I think there going for a truly immersive would, like Todd said it would be weird without them.

Horses easily. (I say horses because I would prefer not to have any other mounts besides horses, even if riding a mammoth would feel powerful).

I never used mounts anyway. It would be cool if you could fight from them though.

Mounts.

Spears are nice but are basically just another weapon type; on the other hand, properly done mounts would definitely have a greater impact on gameplay. Also, the world would feel more real and immersive with people going around mounted or with beasts of burden, etc.

Realistically, I don't expect Sktrim to have mounts that work as well as in Mount&Blade, but I hope they will be better than Oblivion.

You realise you are not obliged to view or post in these threads right? Because if this is the type of post you're going to deposit in any forthcoming spear topic, We'd really rather you didn't.
