What's More Important to you Spears or Mounts?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 8:09 am

If the developers had some spare time what would you want them to work on if they had only time to perfect 1?

Spears are nice, I like the fact you could use a spear against a dragon and possibly get that extra ranged advantage but this might also break balance in the way combat is done and we might all favor spears over other weapons.
Horses are nice, I've seen some great horses done by games like Assassins Creed and Red Dead Redemption, but this might take alot more time to make than what they have...

My choice would be mounts considering I'll be running around with either dual handed weapons or a 2handed sword most of the time.

Yes, perfected horse > spears.

but I have a suspicion they're going to have halberds or something like them in the game anyway.

No contest, mounts. Provided the implementation is excellent.

I'd say mounts but if they really had some spare time I'd prefer getting fist weapons

I don't see why they would make one without the other. It's like making a peanut butter sandwich without jelly.

Mounts and not so much for riding them, but because it makes for a more realistic game world to see others use them. Skyrim seems like its going to be one of the most realistic immersive fantasy worlds yet, people riding horses just help adds to that.

That depends. If mounts means horses, then I think I'd rather have spears. If mounts means horses along with various other rideable creatures, then definitely mounts. Though I seem to be in the minority when it comes to spears vs horses. I guess I haven't played many games where I've seen horses done really well, so maybe I'm having a hard time imagining how much better they'd be.

Spears and mounts are like peanut butter and jelly? ..What?!

Mounts, obviously. Spears would be "just" an expansion on what is already there (combat), whereas mounts is something completely different, adding more depth. I want spears just for the extra sense of completeness, I'm not really a big fan of using them. Mounts is a necessity, and I can't really imagine myself enjoying it without a horse that can take me away from pressing situations. Mounts saved my day many times in Oblivion at very high difficulties. Mounted combat would be nice, but not a necessity.

Edit: Mount AND cart.

Mounts, and it was said in the podcast they are working on them, but it won't in the game if they can't do them done well enough.

I do all the time.

Same here, except I use honey.

@op nice poll and the best I've seen in a while. I vote mounts all the way.

He did say horse would be there, but he does not know to what extent. Which could mean possibly no mounts, and they would just be there to enhance the game world, but it seems like he means it as both.

I don't know what to vote for since perfection in my perception would be wielding a lance or spear from horseback.

I don't really see the point in this poll

I didn't really use either so I don't really care, but if I had to chose I would say spears.

Maybe I am wrong but I suppose moding more perks will be easy and adding a different animation for new perks could be doable. Moding a mounted combat system seems way more difficult. Besides I preffer mounted combat than spears. So I vote mounts.

I misread it first as "what's more important to you than Spears or Mounts"

Given that my immediate reaction was "pretty damn near everything", I guess I'm not fit to vote. :P
