Not really Skyrim, but Hiercines Realm = Predators. The bit where they whistle the dog-things back... cool

I have linked each movie's title to it's theatrical trailer, so if there is any movie you find interesting, you can simply click the name of it and you will be watching the theatrical trailer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndpV6qfQJVw - Excellent movie. I loved it as a child and I still love it. Great fantasy epic,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNCp3gflFU8&feature=related - One of the best fantasy films of all time. The man in the trailer from 1:02 - 1:05 who says "What daring! What arrogance! - I salute you!" is Max Von Sydow.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRiBk9g1qRw - Excellent Viking movie - great story and directed by John McTiernan who also directed the original "Predator". It is based on Michael Crichton's book "Eaters of the Dead".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9qpqyO_dmU The Robert Zemeckis CGI version is the best and the closest to the original story.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wE1YxzF0SzA - Slow starting - but impressive after that.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usN92QXStQs&feature=fvst - I'm sure most all of you have already seen these.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emF-m9qnF5o - The best version of this famous story.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9If7hE3evy0&feature=related - Sean Connery as the Green Knight - how can you hate this movie? ;)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Kfxm1llLrg - Sean Connery as a Dragon - you can't miss this one!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4lkWmpTfyU&feature=related - Great movie from my childhood - still holds up even today. Great Dragon effects!

There are many more, so If you want them let me know!

You either haven't read the original version or you're trolling. The CGI version was a slap in the face to the essence of the Beowulf legend. The Beowulf character in the CGI version couldn't hold a candle to the fabelled Beowulf.

Game of Thrones, a new series on HBO based on A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin. The books are awesome, and the series looks to be excellent. http://www.hbo.com/video/video.html?view=grid&vid=1145144&autoplay=true http://www.hbo.com/video/video.html?view=grid&vid=1149091&autoplay=true

Premieres on April 17th.

I don't EVER troll and I very much enjoy the Zemeckis version of Beowulf. Give me a better version and I will watch that and get back to you on it's faithfullness to the original story.

Valhala Rising.

If you can create scars and physical defects for your character, I'm definitely playing a nord named One-Eye. The dude was a badass.

Not Viking movies, but "Mongol" is amazing, as is pretty much any feudal Japanese movie by Akira Kurosawa.

I strongly suspect that Bethesda is trying to tap into the enthusiasm for the upcoming "The Hobbit" with this one, much as how the previous two entries were taking elements from "Lord of the Rings".

Which is actually a strike against the game IMO. That is, the genre of fantasy allows imagination to blossom if the creators wish it to, but adding dragons, giants, trolls, saber-toothed tigers, etc etc etc is a far step down from the imagination used for the fauna in Morrowind and Shivering Isles. The ice wraiths hint that they might be imaginative, however.

Is Max Von Sydow an actor? Recommend me some of his movies.

Conan the Barbarian. He plays king Osric :)

Also Conan the Destroyer (yes, there were 2 movies) would be a recommendation from me as I think it would fit in nicely with what I've seen so far from Skyrim's setting. Next to that you can't go wrong with 13th Warrior either.

For starters, Beowulf never slept with Grendels mother. That's for starters as to how the CGI Beowulf is soooo wrong.

In preparation for Skyrim? Any recommendations for movies that might relate to Skyrim/dragons/vikings or the setting?? I just watched "How to Train Your Dragon" for the first time, and am now wanting dragon mounts more than ever :P

Haha! I just watched that tonight too... Except it was because my parents had never seen it, they didn't get a movie from redbox, and I had borrowed it on blu-ray from a friend.

I don't care much for riding dragons in the game, but Eragon was another movie I enjoyed

Outlander was good, even though it mixed genres. Beowulf & Grendel (2005) was okay. Surprisingly, Beowulf (2007) was better.

Max von Sydow has a great voice. He was in Minority Report, but first came to my attention as Ming the Merciless in the classic Flash Gordon!

For anyone that has not seen the 13th Warrior, I urge you to watch it. It is a masterpiece of cinematography. Oscar caliber acting with a superbly composed and executed score and despite being one of the most historically inaccurate films ever in remains in my top five favorite movies of all time. I rate my movies by re-watch-ability and I've seen it over 50 times, never gets old.

dragonheart... good movie.

the first one, not the second one.

dragons should never have plain old common, everyday english accents, they should sound scottish, swedish, or... something like that.
