Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 12:05 pm

There's nothing average about me, so I can't answer this question.

Last thing I listened to (in the car, just had to run down to the store for some salse :tongue) was Within Temptation Heart of Everything.

Typical music is female singers, mostly singer-songwriter/folk-alt-pop/rock. Most common singers in my collection are Tori Amos, Ani Difranco, Sarah MacLachlan, Loreena McKennitt.

(The "oldies" station at the restaurant last night reminded me of the music I listened to in high school, though - mostly male singers, mostly pop/rock. Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Asia, Scorpions... some Heart and Pat Benatar, too, though.)

The Protomen. So much Protomen. Also, the Bastion OST. Not sure if that counts, though.

I find it impossible to listen to other music while playing Skyrim. Love that soundtrack so much.

When I'm not playing, my only hate is country music.

Some of my Favorites: Pink Floyd, Kid Cudi, Sublime, Pepper, John Coltrane, The Doors, Mozart, Pretty Lights, Rammstein

I like pretty much everything, but some of my favorites are:

Skrillex
Deadmau5
Jose Gonzalez
Katy Perry (haters gonna hate...)
Hollywood Undead
Sufjan Stevens
Angels and Airwaves
The soundtrack from the movie Drive.

I can't believe you people don't enjoy the in game soundtrack, you can listen to your own music at any time. I can see getting bored of it after a long time, but a week in? This game is an art form intended to be a blend of music, sound, visuals, and your imagination.

I'm certainly not listening to anything other than the in-game soundtrack.

But I did answer the OP's question, "what kinds of music do Skyrim players like to listen to."

I turned the ingame music off the 2nd day. Outside of the opening theme which is awesome, the rest of the ingame music is generic celtic-style music, not poorly done but not close to brilliant either.

Besides that, I prefer to play most games without their ingame music so I can get more of the atmosphere of the place I am, footsteps in the dark, the chirp of crickets, a wolf howl in the distance, etc., etc.

I'm sure ancient Nords didn't have Walk-Mans or iPods available for them to listen to music while they hunted. And I wouldn't think you could be very effective having a full orchestra follow you around back then, either.

I always listen to the games' soundtracks no matter how long I've played them. With Jeremy Soule, how could you not?

In general I like any type of rock (heavy, classical, progressive- all that), some ambient and classical. Once in a while I'll fall in love with songs from some other genre.

The most noteworthy song I've listened to recently was 'Weightless' by Marconi Union. Don't listen to it before you drive, seriously. Who'd have thunk you could feel stoned just from listening to a song.

Don't shoot me... Ok here goes.

I like Contemporary Christians. The problem is that it's easy to discern which ones were created for popularity chase, profit chase, or voice show-offs. And Casting Crowns and Mark Hall is the closest to pleasing.

As for other kind of music, I'm open to Accoustic Guitar and Piano based music and bands.

Peace.

Alternative Rock, Classic Rock, Punk Rock, Ska, a bit of metal, and even less rap, but still, there is some rap I like.. I like rap with meaning, take Macklemore for example. I don't listen to any of that [censored] mainstream rap where they basically talk over a looping beat about how much more successful they am than me, as they unintelligently spew the names of cars, guns and racial slurs. Oh and I also dislike dubstep. Alot.

And my favorite band is blink-182, who would of guessed?

Because your definition of normal and that of the majority of the sane worlds population are two different things.
