Nice. Also, listen to I will lay down my bones among the rocks and roots, also by WITTR.

I love that song.

I just spun that record earlier today! ^_^

Me too actually, it's got the perfect atmosphere for Skyrim.

This and Agalloch would fit the mood of Skyrim perfectly as well.

Agreed, I think Agalloch would go great with the game, maybe something off of The Mantle.

Here's another good song with an icy atmosphere, by http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ajct4wJVvz4

Any of their albums, really. They've all got that perfect feel to them.

Bob Dylan songs.

Not really anything to do with Skyrim whatsoever... I just like Bob Dylan

Heh, I'm actually listening to Bob Dylan right now.

I can add to the list:
Taake
Windir
Ulver
Bak de syv fjell
Myrkgrav
Enslaved
Isengard
Stridsmenn
Hate Forest
Beherit
Burzum
Xasthur (since we got seamlessly from folk to ambient or depressive bm in this thread, funnily enough)

And of course the usual local folk... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=br2OhhUTghY Strange way to end a Trelldom album. Like a forebode of Wardruna.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bn1ct1xomoY, authentic Viking music, I recommend you give it a try, it would go wonderful with Skyrim.

I must second Wardruna, and add in a similar vein: Consono, Elend & Coil (unreleased themes for Hellraisor)

Also for less demonic moods: Lisa Gerrard/Dead Can Dance

This made me laugh. I was thinking the same thing. Well, you've got to support your export products I guess. Although I prefer the traditional or folk inspired stuff... By the way, that Coldworld song you posted is wicked, but his Tortured by Solitude is even "worse"...
Got some more ambient:
Darkspace
Striborg
Leviathan

Edit:
Kampfar
Bornholm
And how could we forget Immortal?!

If you're gonna listen to the folk metal stuff, then the recent Galar is pretty top notch, IMO.

And I think the new Moonsorrow should be out by the time Skyrim drops.

Your location is probably what a lot of these people mentioning Amon Amarth should be listening to instead. :D

That all sounds pretty good.

Alright my last suggestion for the night is one that I commonly listened to while playing Oblivion. The band is called http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLuIqYcpQIw, they're a neo-classical ambient group from San Fransisco. I found that they gave a nice melancholic vibe to the game, made it seem a bit darker and sad.

I know I said I was done but I can't resist. My personal favorite Bathory song, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65zuHfhXaA0 off their self-titled album.

Edit: We should at least try to stay on topic and keep this about music going good with the game, lest this just turn into a general music thread and get locked by the mods.

Music from Hans Zimmer should also fit perfectly with Skyrim , as an example this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AMnOFmwMSs (the most people will know it from the movie "Gladiator") The start of it should be perfect for when you're in the mountains of Skyrim, an you're walking and walking with a clear view of the land because you're so high in the mountains.

I'll be listening a lot of the Oblivion soundtrack (I forgot the names unfortunately) and some from Morrowind but oddly enough I associate Touch Me by The Doors with the Shivering Isles expansion

Obviously, but is that it? You won't experiment with your own custom soundtrack?

I will probably stick with the game's original soundtrack for a long while, and after that add Jeremy Soule's music from MW and OB to their respective categories (battle, public, exploration...) as well as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CriOF8z-wTM, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYufuVNbw4M, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPm-KMpyd2I&feature=related, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7U0ifHlKuE, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpMMaLlJE-I, maybe also some http://www.myspace.com/bjarkanofficial:)

Though I prefer instrumental music that keeps in the background. Or even playing without music, only listening to the ambient sounds.
