What Music Will You Listen To When You First Get Brink?

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 6:19 pm

For me it's going to be a mix of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYlDltwm-JY&feature=BFa&list=PL27A7A0144DC846FF&index=10, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzXzcyZmL_c and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qG5Q58ecgc.

So, Any preferred music genre for gaming?

I never listen to music while playing an FPS online. I like to be able to hear everything going on. For instance on TF2 on 2fort I can hear people coming up the sewer from spawn. No music benefits my game :D

Hmm, Well.... I will probably not listen to music so i can absorb all that is BRINK :] but... If I am listening to music, I am sure it will be a dubstep mix from Going Quantum, or deadmau5.

Or Exile Vilify by The National >_>

(Portal 2 got me hooked to that song)

I find that music benefits my gaming, for some reason, and it doesn't hamper my hearing of the game much, I can still ussually hear footsteps and such.

I agree with Black Sabbath from 1970 to 1978

AC/DC
SoundGarden
MegaDeth
Black Label Society
Godsmack
Marilyn Manson
Dethklok
Led Zeppelin
Van Halen
Rush
Motorhead
Some Techno...
Some Anime tunes...

I usually end up with a very long playlist of all kinds of different songs from different genes by different bands but mostly rock, alt and metal.

Idk why but listening to Billboard Hot 100 songs puts me in the zone for killin some fools. It's not even exceptional music either, idk I guess I'm weird.

I thought so as well. Before I got a headset and turned off my music.

Agreed especially since I plan on getting some nice headsets for Brink.

I would likely be listening to some power metal to get me in the mood though.

Adrenaline isn't always helpful.

Turning off the music in Modern Warfare 2 (and thus the "last minute omg! go! go! go!"-music) improved my gameplay drastically.

And i don't think u will need a headset in this game , 'cause there are radar that shows enemy , abilities like silent running and combat intuition so .....

I kindof agree with both sides in regards to listening to music or not when playing...

I play my music in the background with the video game volume higher then the music, hearing that footstep behind you will always increase your odds of survival.
Not to mention I need to hear when teamies are wanting more ammo...

Also depends on what the game music is like, some games have a solid playlist while some games have horrible music or music that loops every 45secs. I always listened to the music in Ridge Racer

Shooting & Driving games, just have to have my playlist playing.

Then of course sometimes you just need to say http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziomp-cP7G4&feature=player_detailpage

If I listen to a song, it will be this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkAvVqjbUG8

Calm so I don't lose focus but meaningful and feels like it fits the story a bit.

During last summer I had a "WoW" period that lasted for a couple of weeks. I played every, single Genesisalbum there is and today I can guarantee that I know every song they ever made x)

Usually I do not fancy the idea of listening to music while I am playing games, especially not shooters. You need to be alert.

But anywayz. Genesis all the way!! There is no greater band.

i think it really depends on the game, when i played unreal, quake and planetside I often listened to techno, was fast paced and I always played run and gun. Although I still play that style in more modern games, I find music to distracting probably due to better sound design. If i can tell where you are coming from, but you can hear me I am at a disadvantage, which i don't like.

I hope this is more oldschool style where I can pump up the music and still lay down the waste.

I only listen to music after Ive played the game awhile. When its still new I like to hear everything in game.

But when that time comes and to be on topic it will probably be some blockhead, Rjd2, anything from Rhymesayers, Bonobo, Grakatik, Emancipator, Little people, Omega One..etc.. Lots of stuff. I have a pandora station devoted to my favs.

I can't game with music on, I'd probably be a much worse player if I wasn't able to triangulate sound sources.
