Bet you used "Can you run it?" Don't believe it.

A 2.4 GHz P4 is good enough. How much RAM, and what kind of graphics card do you have?

Go to Start > Run > Type in "DxDiag" (Without quotes) and press enter > Once done loading, click "Save All Information" and post ALL of it here.

What you need is a whole new computer, one with a real video card not that Intel integrated video crap. They aren't designed for playing games, you need a dedicated card for that. On the NVidia side, you should have at least a 8600 for this game. I'm not sure what the ATI equivalent is. And you should have at least 2 gig of RAM, preferably more. The standard for CPUs is these days is about 3 ghz, so yours is way under powered there too. Basically your whole system is obsolete and needs to be upgraded.

You are a little short on memory, and a lot short on graphics. You should be able to make the game playable, though.

The CPU (Celeron E1200) is an Allendale Core 2 Duo. It is much faster than the minimum requirement, even though the clock speed is slower. It's fine.

You need more memory: that rig is probably expandable to 2GB, which would be enough. If we knew the exact make and model, we could say for sure.

Since the chipset is a '945, you have a PCI-Express bus, and you probably (but we need the make and model of your computer to say for sure) have a PCI-e x16 slot. That's enough to take a modern graphics card.

If you could tell us the make and model, we could probably find upgrades that would cost you about $100 (US) and would make the game quite playable.

Those things aren't cheap anywhere. The price of a graphics card is outrageous, you're lucky if you find one at 70 dollars, but even then it probably won't be good.

Games are probably the most demanding software that is commonly available for the PC. If gaming is your primary use for a computer then there comes a time that you need to say goodbye to your old one and get one that is better than the recommended hardware for the newest game, because even that will not be king of the hill for long.

I have known guys who have spent big money upgrading and modifying their obsolete computers, overclocking to the point that they have to rig up air con to their cpu to keep it from burning up. Unless you really like hobbying that way, I think you need to stop upgrading after you reach the point of diminishing returns and your computer is well beyond that point.

Maybe you should try convincing your dad that his laptop is obsolete so that he gets a new one and you get his old one that runs Fallout 3 :)
