Original topic was a discussion of open-world mechanics, people's wishes for specific elements to be included/removed, and some connecting ideas to other game mechanics.

Continuing the discussion on limited or exclusive skills:

My idea of a "wheel" wasn't meant to be taken literally. That was just to help people visualize what I meant about exclusive skills.

Also, I never meant that the skill was wholly, unavailable. I meant it wasn't available for advancement. You would have some negligible ability in all skills, but it wouldn't be raesonable to rely on them.

In general, the Skyrim system is too forgiving, and results in rather "flat" characters compared to the earlier titles. A character that can do everything and has no significant weaknesses is a boring character. People tend not to care about them, whether they're part of a game, film, or novel.

One of gamesas's problems is that its audience has matured so their game worlds have to reflect that maturity which isn't easy.
