What I noticed / learned from Todd's presentation at E3

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 5:52 pm

1) Amazing graphics of course + amazing wild life.
2) Extremely fluent and fast ability to switch between hands for spells and even the ability to make a single spell extra powerful by using both hands.
3) Animal movement isn't choppy, looks fluent.
4) Dragon encounters might be too common, can't say for sure but he was just walking around and a dragon came outta no where attacking the guys he was already fighting, at least the giant. Picked him up and dropped him, cool way to kill someone.
5) Dragons remain flying until they're hurt enough to come down, nearby NPCs ( I'm assuming mainly humanoids and this is dependent on their disposition as well ) will aid in the fight automatically.
6) When he pulls back his arrow he holds his breath, similar to holding your breath when sniping on Call of Duty.

Anyone notice anything else?

Heavy Armor is confirmed, and the kill animation on that 2nd dragon was simply epic

The music was awesome, it wasn't the best quality but it sounded good. Soule hit it out of the ballpark again.

I noticed that when you "snipe" someone with a bow, the person right next to that person just stands there.

When talking about the guilds he mentioned nothing of Dark Brotherhood or any other assassins guild.

It'll either be up on Gametrailers site later today or The Elder Scrolls.com might have a link also later today.

He said three main guilds... so we can assume there are some others that are not "main guilds."

i liked it. but i though we were suppose to get a 5 or 20 min demo, there was only like 2-3 min of gameplay, i figured there would be more with the huge poster the put up. BUT what they showed, was amazing, i liked the way the dragon bit that guy from the head down, slung him around, then threw him, animations were great

LOVED the new magic. The "force/lightning" push. Freaking amazing. My only criticism is that when the bandit was shot with an arrow his buddy just stood there like a moron and got shot in the back. I was hoping that there would be some new AI where they would find cover.

Yeah, that was pretty disappointing. He didn't even appear to turn and face the direction the arrow came from to look for you (let alone, take cover).

...naturally I was away from the computer for 10 minutes today and during this 10 minutes the live demo was on. Is it not going to be uploaded by GameTrailers for us to re-watch or what?

I believe we saw a Redguard!!! There was a very dark skinned man with what appeared to be dreadlocks in the cave, he was battled with a sword and then Todd demonstrated a Dragonshout on him.

its still a step up from oblivion where they immediately know where you are. i think they should hide though. if i saw a guy get taken out by an arrow next to me, i'd hide behind the pillar or something.

I have just one gripe with what I saw - the compass markers make a triumphant return. :sadvaultboy:

animations in third person all look far better this time, and dragons have multiple types. Frost dragon looked sick! I love that finishing move he used on it.

Just wish the guy playing would've been a bit better at it, looked as if he was getting beat up too badly when wielding sword and spell because he couldn't block but surely there must be some way a close-encounter battlemage could dodge enemy attacks and not have to just stand there and suffer hits.
